Background: Rotavirus has a high genetic variability. Point mutations, accumulating at a high rate, and genetic reassortment events have been well-documented. Viremia occurs commonly in children with acute rotavirus diarrhoea. However, information on genetic characterization of strains associated with systemic infection is poor. Distribution of VP7 serotypes and VP4 genotypes among rotavirus strains recovered from Italian children with diarrhea

108 rotavirus strains obtained from children with diarrhea hospitalized in Palermo, Italy, in the years 1990-1994, were examined by seminested PCR to study the relative frequency and distribution of the four most common alleles of the gene 4. Such strains were selected from 344 human rotavirus strains recovered in palermo during those years after characterization by electropherotyping, subgrouping and G serotyping. One hundred and seven of the 108 strains could be classified into P types, the P[8], G1 (38.3%) and the P[8], G4 (52.3%) types being predominant. Structure of matrices based on pectin : formulation, characterization, functionality and controlled release during the encapsulation

In this thesis, we studied the interactions between an anionic polysaccharide (pectin) and monovalent cation (Na+) and divalent cations (Ca2+, Zn2+, Ba2+, Mg2+) in dilute regime (c Ca2+ > Zn2+ > Mg2+; this may be related to the affinity between the water molecules from the coordination sphere and the cation. Indeed, the affinity of the cation for water molecules increases in the reverse order: Ba2+ < Ca2+ < Zn2+ < Mg2+. Finally, we have used the three polysaccharides (PGA, LMP and ALMP - amidated low methoxyl pectin) in association with calcium ions to produce microparticles containing rutin to target drug release in the intestine. Three New Species of the Bothriomirine Genus Leprocapsus Poppius from Indonesia (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae: Cylapinae)

Abstract Three new species of the genus Leprocapsus Poppius from Indonesia, L. irianjayensis n. sp. and L. parvus n. sp. (Irian Jaya), and L. schuhi n. sp. (Sulawesi), are described. A color photograph of the adult and illustration of the antennal segments I and II of each treated taxa, dorsal habitus drawing of L. schuhi, illustration of the male genitalia of L. parvus, and scanning electron micrographs of selected structures of L. irianjayensis, L. schuhi, and L. scutellaris are provided. A key to all known species, diagnosis and the distribution map of the genus Leprocapsus are given.

Literature data relevant to the biopharmaceutical properties of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) nifedipine are reviewed to evaluate whether a waiver of in vivo bioequivalence (BE) testing of immediate-release (IR) dosage forms formulated as tablets and soft gelatin capsules is warranted. However, they are also capable of persistent infections in tissues, which are suggested to contribute to severe chronic states such as myocardial inflammation and type 1 diabetes.
