After more than fifty years after the landslide of 19 July 1966 which involved most of the historical centre of Agrigento, the paper aims to reflect on the results of the policies implemented by the national government as a result of this dramatic event and on the effect that such policies have had on urban landscape. In particular, the paper focuses on the degradation conditions that characterize both the historical neighbourhood of Rabato-Santa Croce, which was partially abandoned by the inhabitants following the landslide, and the new district of public housing "Villaseta", built outside of the Agrigento city, where the inhabitants - who had lost their homes - were transferred.

Whilst shopping malls have been explored at length by critical urban studies, there has been little exploration of their role in restructuring the practice of urban and spatial planning. This article uses the shopping mall as an object of study in the light of the neoliberal trends and post-metropolisation in Southern Europe, with the aim of exploring challenges for urban governance and planning practice and with a focus on the role of the ongoing economic crisis. Extending the semiotics of embodied interaction to blended spaces.

In this paper, we develop a new way of understanding interactions in blended spaces. We do this by developing ideas about embodied semiotics and then apply these ideas to the analysis of interaction in mixed-reality blended spaces (where the physical world and digital world are blended deliberately to provide new forms of interaction). We discuss how blended spaces provide a new medium within which people have experiences. The semiotic analysis reveals how blended spaces are constructed across the physical and the digital, highlighting the ontology, topology, volatility, and agency present within them. La présente étude analyse les difficultés du contrôle de l’existence de l’investissement devant le Centre international pour le règlement des différends relatifs aux investissements (CIRDI) et propose des moyens pour les surmonter.
