The article analyses the novel Cesta do pekel written by Václav Vokolek – the Czech prose writer, poet and painter – through the usage of the intersemiotic translation strategies. The plot of the text can be characterized as the contamination of the physically plausible historic world (the construction of the railway in the middle of the 19th century) with the implausible one (the infernal story) according to Lubomír Doležel’s typology. Demonstrating the changes in the arts (the clash of romanticism with realism), the novelist sensitizes the reader to the drastic introversion into nature, as exemplifi ed by the urbanization processes in the north of the Czech Republic. The article is dedicated to the issue of nineteenth-century inns and alcohol abuse in Silesia of the time. It contains data on the legislative efforts o f the Prussian authorities to solve the problem of alcoholism , and also describes the history o f social sobriety movements inspired by the Catholic Church. Using the historical documentation contained in the court protocols from the Strzelce County, examined was the actual freąuency o f cases in which alkohol played a role. The conclusion transpired that administrative bans issued by the Prussian authorities and the efforts o f the Catholic Church could have been effective. Tutkimme ulkomaisten luonnonväriaineiden tuontia Suomeen 1790-luvun alusta 1850-luvun puoliväliin. Ajankohtaa voidaan luonnehtia murroskaudeksi väriaineiden käytön historiassa. Selvitämme mitä väriaineita Suomeen tuotiin, millaisia määriä, minneniitä tuotiin sekä mistä satamista väriainelastit olivat lähtöisin. Lähdeaineistomme perustan muodostavat Tanskan Juutinrauman tullitilit, joista on koostettu suomalaisia satamia koskeva tietokanta (FIN-STRO: 1560/1791–1856). Modern digital technologies have become common in educational settings of all levels. This has made the use of digital storytelling (DST) more applicable in early childhood education and care (ECEC). This paper examines the implementation of DST, aiming to answer the following questions: 1) How to support children’s active participation throughout the DST process in ECEC, and 2) how do 21st century skills manifest in the DST process? Il 5 marzo 1823 si verificò un terremoto che investì gran parte della Sicilia settentrionale. Numerosi danni si verificarono a Palermo, nelle aree limitrofe a sud e ovest della capitale, in alcuni centri delle Madonie e nelle zone situate lungo il litorale e l’immediato entroterra tirrenico da Palermo a Patti (in particolare a Naso).
