Gender differences in child and adolescent daily activities : a cross-national time use study

This study used 2009–2015 time-diary data to examine gender differences in daily activities among children and adolescents aged 10–17 in Finland, Spain and the UK ( N = 3517). In all three countries, boys were significantly more involved in screen-based activities and exercising and girls in domestic work, non-screen educational activities and personal care. Gender differences in socializing time were only significant in the UK, with girls socializing more than boys. Children of parents with cancer: a collaborative project between a child psychiatry clinic and an adult oncology clinic.

This article describes the development of a collaborative relationship between a child psychiatry clinic and an adult oncology clinic within a university hospital. The interest of the child psychiatry clinic was to pay attention to children of parents with cancer, and to propose an intervention to support them. A child-centred family counselling model was designed for this purpose. The preparation, implementation, and results of this project are described. Positive results, as well as mistakes and failures are discussed, and recommendations are made regarding this kind of collaboration.

While adverse childhood experiences have been shown to contribute to adverse health outcomes in adulthood, specifically distress and somatic symptoms, few studies have examined their joint effects with resilient coping style on adult adjustment. Hence, we aim to determine the association between resilient coping and distress in participants with and without reported childhood adversities. Abstract This paper addresses variables related to child and adolescent saving and explains the development of skills and behaviors that facilitate saving from an economic socialization perspective. References are made to the differences between the economic world of children, adolescents, and adults as well as to existing theories of saving. Children's and adolescents’ ability and willingness to save are looked at, taking into account the social context of the family and general child and adolescent development. The paper concludes with directions for future research in this area.

Fragestellung: Dieser Beitrag stellt die Vorteile einer umfassenden OPD-KJ Diagnostik für eine kinder- und jugendpsychiatrische Stichprobe dar. Methodik: Drei Achsen der OPD-KJ, die Konflikt- und Strukturachse sowie die Achse Behandlungsvoraussetzungen wurden zusätzlich zum MAS und der ICD-10 Diagnose an einer Gruppe von 61 stationären kinder- und jugendpsychiatrischen Patienten in Österreich eingeschätzt.
