Dinuclear Ortho-Metalated Palladium(II) Compounds with N,N- and N,O-Donor Bridging Ligands. Synthesis of New Palladium(III) Complexes

New dinuclear ortho-metalated palladium(II) compounds with N,N′-diarylformamidinates, Pd2[(C6H4)PPh2]2[R′NC(H)NR′]2 (R′ = C6H5, 3a; R′ = p-CH3C6H4, 3b; R′ = p-CH3OC6H4, 3c) and N,O-donor ligands, Pd2[(C6H4)PPh2]2[N,O]2 (N,O = succinimidate (5), phtalimidate (6), 2-hydroxypyridinate (7), acetanilidate (8)) have been synthesized and characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction methods. The oxidation with iodobenzene dichloride gave new and rare Pd26+ compounds, Pd2[(C6H4)PPh2]2[R′NC(H)NR′]2Cl2 (R′ = C6H5, 4a; R′ = p-CH3C6H4, 4b). Two complexes of Pt(IV) and Au(III) with 2,2'-dipyridylamine and 2,2'-dipyridylaminide ligands

Two noble metal complexes involving ancillary chloride ligands and chelating 2,2′-bipyridylamine (Hdpa) or its deprotonated derivative (dpa), namely [bis(pyridin-2-yl-κN)amine]tetrachloridoplatinum(IV), [PtCl4(C10H9N3)], and [bis(pyridin-2-yl-κN)aminido]dichloridogold(III), [AuCl2(C10H8N3)], are presented and structurally characterized. Thermotropic properties and molecular packing of discotic tristriazolotriazines with rigid substituents.

Tristriazolotriazines with a threefold dialkoxyaryl substitution have been prepared by Huisgen reaction of cyanuric chloride and the corresponding tetrazoles. Although these dyes show a negative or inverted solvatochromism of the UV/Vis absorption, their fluorescence is strongly positive solvatochromic. These discotic fluorophores are also emissive in their solid state and in their broad liquid-crystalline mesophase. The structural study indicates that the thermotropic properties and organization of these systems can be well tuned by the steric demand of the aryl groups. An ab initio study of the enolboration of 3-pentanone mediated by boron monochlorides L2BCl

Abstract Using ab initio methods at the HF/6-31G∗∗ level, we have studied the mechanism of the enolboration of 3-pentanone mediated by boron monochlorides L2BCl (L=H, methyl and isopropyl) and trimethyl amine. The size of the L group has been found to have a decisive influence on the configuration (E or Z) of the formed boron enolate. Thus, whereas our calculations predict that dimethylboron chloride yields the Z enolate with high stereoselectivity, diisopropylboron chloride is found to yield predominantly the E enolate. Two new structural isomers – 2,4-dimethyl-5-[methyl(phenylsulfonyl)amino]benzenesulfonyl chloride (1) and 2,4-dimethyl-3-[methyl(phenylsulfonyl)amino]benzenesulfonyl chloride (2) were synthesized by interaction of N-(2,4-dimethylphenyl)-N-methyl-benzenesulfonamide or N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-N-methylbenzenesulfonamide with chlorosulfonic acid. Both compounds have been structurally characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction at 100 K. Chlorodicyclohexylborane-mediated aldol additions of alpha,alpha'-dioxygenated ketones.

Boron aldol additions of variously O-protected alpha,alpha'-dioxygenated ketones using dicyclohexylboron chloride and a tertiary amine have been investigated. The stereoselectivity of the process was dependent on the protecting group on the alpha-oxygen atoms. Notably, ketones with bulky silyloxy groups gave syn aldols, most likely via Z enolates. This rules out the participation of chelates during the enolization process, at least in the presence of such sterically crowded protecting groups. An alternative explanation is offered.

Lanthanide Discrimination with Hydroxyl-Decorated Flexible Metal–Organic Frameworks

We report two new highly crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), derived from the natural amino acids serine (1) and threonine (2), featuring hexagonal channels densely decorated with hydroxyl groups belonging to the amino acid residues. Both 1 and 2 are capable of discriminating, via solid-phase extraction, a mixture of selected chloride salts of lanthanides on the basis of their size, chemical affinity, and/or the flexibility of the network.
