Modular Access to 9,9-Spirobifluorenes by Oxidative Coupling Using Molybdenum Pentachloride
2013
The strong oxidizing agent molybdenum pentachloride was used for an efficient direct C–C bond formation of 9,9-diarylfluorenes to the corresponding 9,9-spirobifluorenes. Thus, a versatile method that is compatible with labile groups, such as iodo moieties, was established. By this approach important building blocks for light emitting polymers were synthesized in high yields.
Physico-chemical investigation of nanostructures in liquid phases: Nickel chloride ionic clusters confined in sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate…
2009
The confinement of finite amounts of nickel chloride in the hydrophilic core of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) reverse micelles dispersed in n-heptane has been investigated by FT-IR, UV-vis-NIR and fluorescence spectroscopies. The analysis of experimental data consistently leads to hypothesize that NiCl(2) forms small size ionic clusters stabilized by a monolayer of oriented surfactant molecules. Due to confinement and interfacial effects, these ionic clusters show peculiar photophysical properties, which are different from those possessed by the bulk material. From NiCl(2)/AOT/n-heptane solutions, by evaporation of the organic solvent, interesting salt/surfactant nanocomposi…
MMX Chains and Molecular Species Containing Rh 2 n+ ( n = 4, 5, and 6) Units: Electrical Conductivity in Crystal Phase of MMX Polymers
2010
The control of the experimental conditions in the reaction of Rh 2 (O 2 CCH 3 ) 4 with halides allows the isolation of the novel dirhodium complexes K x [Rh 2 X(O 2 CCH 3 ) 4 ] x ·4xH 2 O (X = Br, 1·4H 2 O and I, 2·4H 2 O) [Rh 2 (O 2 CCH 3 ) 4 Cl] x H 2 O (3·H 2 O), [Rh 2 (O 2 CCH 3 )Cl] x ·4xH 2 O (3·4H 2 O), and {Rh 2 (O 2 CCH 3 ) 4 I 2 ]· 4H 2 0 (4·4H 2 O) containing Rh 2 n+ (n = 4, 5 and 6) units. The X-ray structure determination of compounds 1-4 reveals the presence of dirhodium units in different oxidation states. The polyanionic complexes 1·4H 2 O and 2·4H 2 O containing Rh 2 4+ units give zig-zag chains. In contrast, the partially oxidized complexes 3·H 2 O and 3·4H 2 O containing …

N,N,N-Alkyloctyldimethylammonium Chlorides in Water: A Thermodynamic Investigation
1993
Abstract Specific conductivities, densities, heat capacities and enthalpies of dilution at 298 K and osmotic coefficients at 310 K were measured for N,N,N -octylbutyldimethylammonium, N,N,N -octylpentyldimethylammonium, and N,N -dioctyldimethylammonium chlorides in water as functions of concentration. From the specific conductivity data, the CMC and the degree of the counterion dissociation have been calculated. It is shown that additional CH 2 groups in the variable alkyl chain affect both CMC and β less than they do in the single chain surfactants. The partial molar volumes, heat capacities, relative enthalpies, nonideal free energies, and entropies at 298 K were derived as functions of t…
Determination of cationic surfactants by capillary zone electrophoresis and micellar electrokinetic chromatography with deoxycholate micelles in the …
2000
Mixtures of the cationic surfactants benzalkonium chloride (BKC) and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) were quickly resolved and reproducibly and reliably determined by using background electrolytes (BGEs) containing 80 mM borate, pH 8.5, bile salts and large concentrations of an organic solvent. When the bile salt is present, the separation mechanism changes from capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) to a mixed micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC)-CZE, with predominant MEKC interactions, which lead to an excellent resolution of all the solutes, including the C12-C18 homologues of BKC and CPC. A BGE containing 50 mM sodium deoxycholate and 30% ethanol for an extreme resolution, or 20% …
1-{2-[4-(4-Nitrophenyl)piperazin-1-yl]ethyl}-4-aza-1-azoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane iodide
2012
The title compound, C18H28N5O2+·I−, was observed as a main product in an intended 1:1 reaction between 4-iodonitrobenzene and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO). In the reaction, DABCO undergoes a ring opening to yield a quaternary salt of DABCO and 1-ethyl-4-(4-nitrophenyl)piperazine with an iodide anion. The crystal structure determination was carried out as no crystal structure had been previously reported in the investigations describing the corresponding reaction with 4-chloronitrobenze. Indeed, the crystal structure of the title compound confirms the molecular composition proposed earlier for the analogous chloride salt. The cation conformation is similar to the …
Syntheses of Sterically Hindered Peptides and Depsipeptides by Means of an Ac…
Enhanced spectrophotometric determination of nicotinic acid in a sodium dodecyl sulphate micellar medium.
1994
The spectrophotometric determination of pyridine and pyridine derivatives by means of the König reaction was studied in micellar media of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), N-cetylpyridinium chloride and Triton X-100. The sensitivity was largely increased in SDS micellar medium. The attack of the pyridine ring with cyanogen bromide to produce a glutaconic aldehyde was not affected by the presence of SDS, but the yield of the coupling reaction with an arylamine to produce a polymethine dye was largely increased. In the SDS micellar medium, aniline was superior to other coupling reagents. The limits of detection (LODs) were 6 x 10(-7), 1 x 10(-6) and 5 x 10(-7)M for pyridine, pyrrol-ylmethylpyrid…
Synthesis of fluorinated piperidine and azepane β-amino acid derivatives
2016
Abstract A convenient and robust stereocontrolled procedure has been developed for the synthesis of novel trifluoromethyl-containing piperidine and azepane β-amino ester stereoisomers. The synthesis started from readily available unsaturated bicyclic β-lactams and was based on oxidative cleavage of the ring C C double bond followed by ring closure of the diformyl intermediates in the presence of 2,2,2-trifluoroethylamine hydrochloride through reductive amination. The synthetic procedure has efficiently been extended towards the synthesis of mono- and difluorinated analogs.
