Designing Medical Devices Based on Silicon Polymeric Material with Controlled Release of Local Anesthetics
2012
The drug delivery systems that are the object of this article take the form of a polymer matrix made of silicone containing a drug. These devices can be used as patches for local dermal applications releasing the drug in a controlled manner. The model active agent, lidocaine hydrochloride was chosen from the range of local anesthetics. When the drug is restricted to the surface, it is released more rapidly than when it is allowed to spread evenly throughout the silicon structure. When hydrophilic polymers such as PVA and HEC are mixed in with the lidocaine hydrochloride and deposited on the surface of the polymer matrix, we observed that the burst effect was eliminated without modifying the…
Photosensitive properties of composite films based on copper chloride in polymer matrix
2013
The composite films based on PMMA and CuCl2 were prepared. Transmission spectra of the films before and after illumination by different laser lines (405, 448, 456 nm) were measured. The reversible character of the composite photosensitivity was fixed. The phenomenon of direct surface relief formation after laser beam illumination of composite films was described. The holographic gratings were recorded by different exposure (200 – 500 J/cm2) in the films with different concentration (8 and 20 wt. %) of copper salt. The film sensitivity dependence on polymer molecular weight was studied. Surface relief of the gratings was measured by AFM.
Comment on “Local impermeant anions establish the neuronal chloride concentration”
2014
Glykys et al . (Reports, 7 February 2014, p. 670) proposed that cytoplasmic impermeant anions and polyanionic extracellular matrix glycoproteins establish the local neuronal intracellular chloride concentration, [Cl – ] i , and thereby the polarity of γ-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA A ) receptor signaling. The experimental procedures and results in this study are insufficient to support these conclusions. Contradictory results previously published by these authors and other laboratories are not referred to.
Synthesis of all-syn Functionalized Triphenylene Ketals
2011
The stereoselective synthesis of triphenylene ketals offers access to unique scaffolds. For a good performance in supramolecular applications an all-syn orientation of the functional groups is essential. The oxidative trimerization of catechol ketals by molybdenum pentachloride or mixtures with titanium tetrachloride leads to a template-directed formation. Several heterocyclic moieties are suitable for this transformation. A template-directed isomerization of anti, anti, syn isomers to the desired C 3 -symmetric derivative was demonstrated in two cases.
A quantitative study of substituent effects on oxidative cyclization of some 2-aryl-substituted aldehyde thiosemicarbazones induced by ferric chlorid…
1999
As a development of our previous work, we performed a kinetic study of the oxidative cyclization reaction of some 2,4-diaryl-substituted aldehyde thiosemicarbazones 1a-n induced by ferric chloride and by cupric perchlorate. The results of cyclization of 1a-n were compared to those of the corresponding 2-methyl derivatives. The kinetic data were analyzed by means of the Hammett's equation.
Studies on the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Part VIII. A facile synthesis of new pyrazolo[3,4-b]benzazepine-4,9-diones
1982
2-Carbomethoxybenzoyl chloride reacted with some 5-methylamino-l-phenyl-3-R-pyrazoles to yield N-methyl-l-phenyl-3-R-pyrazol-5-yl)-2-carbomethoxybenzamides. These products were readily transformed into the corresponding acid, which in turn, refluxed in phosphorus oxychloride afforded the tricyclic system, l-phenyl-3-R-pyrazolo[3,4-b]benzazepine-4,9-dione.
Reactions of Piperazin-2-one, Morpholin-3-one, and Thiomorpholin-3-one with Triethyl Phosphite Prompted by Phosphoryl Chloride: Scope and Limitations
2019
The reaction of the title lactams with triethyl phosphite prompted by phosphoryl chloride provided six-membered ring heterocyclic phosphonates or bisphosphonates. These novel scaffolds might be of interest as building blocks in medicinal chemistry. The course of the reaction was dependent on the structure of the used substrate. Thus, morpholin-3-one and thiomorpholin-3-one readily provided the corresponding 1,1-bisphosphonates (compounds 1, 2, 7, 14 and 16), whereas the protection of their nitrogen atom resulted in the formation of dehydrophosphonates (compounds 5, 6, and 8). Piperazin-2-one reacted differently yielding mixture of cis- and trans- piperazine-2,3-diyl-bisphosphonates (compoun…

New aromatic diamines containing a multiring flexible skeleton for the synthesis of thermally stable polyimides
2000
Abstract Multi-ring aromatic diamines bearing a long alkyl chain (C 6 , C 8 or C 16 ) were obtained from the corresponding dinitro compounds synthesized by a Friedel–Crafts alkylation of substituted mesitylenes by paranitrobenzyl chloride. The bismaleimide synthesized from the diamine bearing a C 16 chain formed a thermostable polyimide.
The role of association/complexation equilibria in the anionic polymerization of (meth)acrylates
1992
The kinetics of the anionic polymerization of methacrylates and acrylates in THF as well as the MWD of the polymers formed depend on the concentration of active centres and of additives, such as lithium halides and lithium alkoxides. These results are discussed on basis of multiple equilibria between non-associated, associated, and complexed ion pairs which are supported by viscosity measurements. The position of these equilibria determines the rate of polymerization, whereas the dynamics of interconversion determine the polydispersity. In the absence of additives the rate of monomer addition to non-associated ion pairs competes with the rate of association. Addition of lithium chloride mai…
