Musica e architettura.

September 13th 1956, Stravinsky conducted at the basilica of St. Mark in Venice the first performance of the "…

Angels carrying crowns on the images of martyrs. Origin of the iconographic type

2013

This article tries to explain the origin of the images of angels carrying crowns to the martyrs; to this end, it points out the relationship of the crowns with the martyrs from Early Christian period, the way these crowns began to be carried by angels, and the different types of crowns they could carry depending on different periods.

Cicha noc, święta noc

2022

Jezus Chrystus jest niewątpliwie postacią historyczną. Jednak o samym Jego narodzeniu wiemy niewiele. Podstaw wielu tradycji i legend związanych z Bożym Narodzeniem należy zatem szukać przede wszystkim w ewangeliach apokryficznych oraz wizjach i objawieniach mistykowi świętych.

Efficient light-emitting electrochemical cells using small molecular weight, ionic, host-guest systems

2015

This work has been supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MAT2014-55200). Light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) based on fluorescent host-guest small molecules system are reported. The LECs show electroluminescence coming solely from the guest, with an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 2.0%, which is very close to the theoretical maximum EQE (2.2%) for this particular system. This work demonstrates the possibility to obtain high efficiency devices employing low-cost materials, making host-guest systems a real alternative to more traditional semiconducting polymer or transition metal compounds. Microstructure and mechanical properties of plasma spraying coatings from YSZ feedstocks comprising nano-and submicron-sized particles

2015

Atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) is an attractive technique to obtain nanostructured coatings due to its versatility, simplicity and relatively low cost. However, nanoparticles cannot be fed into the plasma using conventional feeding systems, due to their low mass and poor flowability, and must be adequately reconstituted into sprayable micrometric agglomerates. In this work, nanostructured and submicron/nanostiuctured powders of yttria-stabilised zirconia (YSZ) were deposited using APS, with a view to obtaining high-performance thermal bather coatings (IBC). All powders were reconstituted by spray-drying from different solid loading suspensions, followed by a thermal treatment of the spra…

Raman signal reveals the rhombohedral crystallographic structure in ultra-thin layers of bismuth thermally evaporated on amorphous substrate

2021

Under the challenge of growing a single bilayer of Bi oriented in the (111) crystallographic direction over amorphous substrates, we have studied different thicknesses of Bi thermally evaporated onto silicon oxide in order to shed light on the dominant atomic structures and their oxidation. We have employed atomic force microscope, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscope approaches to demonstrate that Bi is crystalline and oriented in the (111) direction for thicknesses over 20 nm. Surprisingly, Raman spectroscopy indicates that the rhombohedral structure is preserved even for ultra-thin layers of Bi, down to $\sim 5$ nm. Moreover, the signals also reveal that bismuth films expo…
