AbstractPolyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) have been considered of great interest for human health due to their potential anti-inflammatory action that may protect from a number of chronic-degenerative diseases with an inflammatory pathogenesis. This review aimed to report the most updated evidence of both n-3 and n-6 PUFAs effect on cardiovascular disease, cancer, and depression in humans. Genetic Deletion of JNK1 and JNK2 Aggravates the DSS-Induced Colitis in Mice

The c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNKs) are considered as novel targets for therapy of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). However, the relevant JNK isoforms have to be elucidated. Here, we analyze the individual contribution of the JNK1 and JNK2 isoforms in a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) model of experimental colitis. JNK1 and JNK2 knockout mice (JNK1 ko, JNK2 ko) and their wild-type controls (WT1, WT2) received three cycles of DSS treatment, each consisting of 1.7% DSS for 5 days, followed by 5 days with water. Long-Term Evaluation of a Rat Model of Chronic Cholangitis Resembling Human Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic cholestatic disorder with a presumed autoimmune aetiopathogenesis. We have recently described a novel organ-specific rat model of fibrosing cholangitis induced by intrabiliary administration of the hapten-reagent 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS) with similarities to human PSC. In the present report, we have evaluated the long-term outcome of TNBS-induced cholangitis in this model.
