Inducing Strong Non-Linearities in a Phonon Trapping Quartz Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonator Coupled to a Superconducting Quantum Interference Device
2018
International audience; A quartz Bulk Acoustic Wave resonator is designed to coherently trap phonons in such a way that they are well confined and immune to suspension losses so they exhibit extremely high acoustic Q-factors at low temperature, with Q × f products of order 10¹⁸ Hz. In this work we couple such a resonator to a Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) amplifier and investigate effects in the strong signal regime. Both parallel and series connection topologies of the system are investigated. The study reveals significant non-Duffing response that is associated with the nonlinear characteristics of Josephson junctions. The nonlinearity provides quasi-periodic structu…
The need and implications of the human capital management system
2021
In an era where technology and innovation seem to take over every organizational process, differentiation in terms of sustainable economic growth is achieved by implementing a human capital management system. In order to develop a proper model that encompasses a long-term perspective and an infinite organizational mindset, using a survey questionnaire collected data from 118 responses and 3 focus groups were conducted. This paper aims to highlight the results regarding the degree of implementation of the human capital management system and the implications for organizational performance arising from this approach. The results of this study present an evaluation model of human capital in org…
Barriers in organizing the Romanian firms in responsibility centers
2017
In the current turbulent business environment, the big and medium enterprises must organize their activity in order to face new challenges. One of the organizational forms that can stimulate the performances of the firms is the one in responsibility centers. This paper addresses the issue of the responsibility centers starting from the possibility of using benchmarking before and after the implementation of this organizational form. After highlighting the advantages of the responsibility centers, we presented a study made in Romanian big and medium organizations, regarding the barriers in the design and implementation of this organizational form. The main causes that determine Romanian mana…
Taking the Advantage of Smartphone Apps for Understanding Information Needs of Emergency Response Teams’ for Situational Awareness: Evidence from an …
2016
In search and rescue (SAR) operation, a lot of information is being shared among different emergency response groups. However, one of the key challenges experienced by these rescue groups during SAR operation is obtaining the complete awareness of the situation from the shared information. Moreover, one of the key actions of rescue leaders is to get the needed information in order to coordinate effectively with other teams and perform well. So, in this study we conduct an indoor fire drill with the help of Smartphone application with two settings (without SmartRescue smartphone application and with SmartRescue smartphone application) to find out what type of information is mostly communicat…
Visual communication in lean organizations
2017
Many researchers have studied the role and importance of communication and communication types for organizations and their work force. The topic of organizational communication is a constantly changing one. The thing that remains stable throughout this very wide topic is its purpose: communication is vital for the effectiveness and success of organizations of all sizes, types and cultures. In terms of type, one could split up topic by type as followed: verbal, visual and written. This research paper focuses on the visual component at shop floor within automotive organizations. It aims at giving the reader a structured overview on the most appropriate but also lean visual communication pract…
Changes Required in Organizing the Creativity Management in Romanian Firms
2019
Resource management – both as a discipline and as a practice – has always emphasized the efficiency of their use. Current business conditions imply a profound change in the relationship between tangible and intangible resources. Increasing the share of creativity in the resources of any company in recent years has led to an increase in the share of creativity management in the overall management of organizations. But the sustainable development of a business depends on the way in which management exercises its functions over all resources. Thus, the ways that management chooses to organize this inexhaustible resource that is creativity are essential for business development. Based on a rese…
Synthesis, characterization and study of covalently modified triazole LAPONITE® edges
2020
Abstract LAPONITE® (Lap) clay mineral was successful functionalized by triazole groups in a two steps procedure. First, the Lap edges were modified with 3-azidopropyltrimethoxysilane by traditional heating and microwave irradiation. Microwave irradiation allowed us to obtain high loading onto the Lap edges in lower times compared to those obtained through conventional method. Afterwards, the triazole moieties were obtained by reaction between azido functionalized Lap and propargyl alcohol. The successful functionalization of Lap was proved by thermogravimetric analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering and ζ-potential measurements. Finally, the effects of the surface modificatio…
Precipitation and Calcination of High-Capacity LiNiO2 Cathode Material for Lithium-Ion Batteries
2020
This article presents the electrochemical results that can be achieved for pure LiNiO2 cathode material prepared with a simple, low-cost, and efficient process. The results clarify the roles of the process parameters, precipitation temperature, and lithiation temperature in the performance of high-quality LiNiO2 cathode material. Ni(OH)2 with a spherical morphology was precipitated at different temperatures and mixed with LiOH to synthesize the LiNiO2 cathode material. The LiNiO2 calcination temperature was optimized to achieve a high initial discharge capacity of 231.7 mAh/g (0.1 C/2.6 V) with a first cycle efficiency of 91.3% and retaining a capacity of 135 mAh/g after 400 cycles. These a…
Experimental Investigation for Local Tank Inflow Model
2014
In the present paper the effect of private roof tanks and of the float valve characteristics on apparent losses due to water meter errors was investigated via an experimental study. The tests were carried out at the Environmental Hydraulic Laboratory of the University of Enna (Italy), on a high-density polyethylene (HDPE 100 PN16) looped distribution network. The experimental results showed that network pressure plays an important role in the characterisation of the floating ball valve emitter law, but the tank operating condition is the most relevant aspect to be considered mainly for water meter error evaluation. A novel boundary element formulation for anisotropic fracture mechanics
2019
Abstract A novel boundary element formulation for two-dimensional fracture mechanics is presented in this work. The formulation is based on the derivation of a supplementary boundary integral equation to be used in combination with the classic displacement boundary integral equation to solve anisotropic fracture mechanics problems via a single-region approach. The formulation is built starting from the observation that the displacement field for an anisotropic domain can be represented as the superposition of a vector field, whose components satisfy a suitably defined anisotropic Laplace equation, and the gradient of the Airy stress function. The supplementary boundary integral equation is …
