The Central Government Fund for Local Investments as an Instrument of Clientelist Politics Towards the Local Government in Poland – The Position of t…
2022
The objective of the paper is to analyse the distribution of funds from the Central Government Fund for Local Investments (CGFLI) granted in the years 2020-2021 to the communes and districts of the Opolskie province in which the German minority (GM) rules in local governments. A hypothesis has been formulated that communes and districts governed by the GM are not treated as neutral communes in the same sense as non-partisan communes governed by local government officials who do not represent national political parties, and such communes and districts may thus face discrimination in the distribution of funds, similar to what has been established in the case of the opposition "Senate Bloc". Nonverbal synchrony in couple therapy linked to clients’ well-being and the therapeutic alliance
2021
Nonverbal synchrony between individuals has a robust relation to the positive aspects of relationships. In psychotherapy, where talking is the cure, nonverbal synchrony has been related to a positive outcome of therapy and to a stronger therapeutic alliance between therapist and client in dyadic settings. Only a few studies have focused on nonverbal synchrony in multi-actor therapy conversations. Here, we studied the synchrony of head and body movements in couple therapy, with four participants present (spouses and two therapists). We analyzed more than 2000min of couple therapy videos from 11 couple therapy cases using Motion Energy Analysis and a Surrogate Synchrony (SUSY), a procedure us…
Korupcja a rozwój. Analiza funkcjonalnych aspektów korupcji
2014
Corruption has become a major global problem. Proponents of the “good corruption” thesis believe that in certain conditions corruption can be conducive to economic and political development. To them, corruption is “grease” that lubricates the rigid wheels of the bureaucratic machine, and is a legitimate mechanism of political inclusion of the excluded masses. Yet, empirical analysis of the positive functions of corruption in the Soviet Union, the United States of America and certain Asian countries revealed that corruption is first and foremost a symptom of political and economic system dysfunction. One can speak of the positive functions of corruption only in the context of the Systems ser…

Discursive Strategies to Negotiate Power Relations in Disability Services Client Juries
2020
Collaboration with clients is an efficient way to develop social services. To strengthen the possibilities for clients to influence services, client juries are established. However, collaboration in the juries is perceived as difficult because of the power imbalance inherent in the client–social worker relationship. The aim of this study was to examine how the participants negotiated power relations in client jury meetings. The data consisted of four observed disability services client jury meetings. Analysis was performed using action-implicative discourse analysis, which aims to define different communicative problems, interactional strategies, and situated ideals of communicative practic…

2021
Tra i diversi e ricchi Tesori siciliani, indagati a partire dagli anni Trenta del secolo scorso da Maria Accascina, si inserisce quello, pressoché inedito, di San Mauro Castelverde. At the end of the process of stylistic renovation that affected the church of San Maur…
