Neology and lemmatization: clippings and acronyms in spanish dictionaries
2020
Management of Complex Cerebral Aneurysms
2022
BACKGROUND: Complex intracranial aneurysms (CIAs) are challenging pathologies to treat. Characteristics making an aneurysm complex include dimension, history of previous treatment, location, absence of collateral circulation, intraluminal thrombosis, and calcification of the wall. The goal of the therapeutic process is to exclude the malformation from the cerebral circulation and both endovascular and surgical treatments are valid procedures.METHODS: Between 1990 and 2020, 170 CIAs were treated at our institution (33 ruptured, 137 unruptured). They were 3 prepetrous segment of the internal carotid artery (ICA), 14 purely intracavernous sinus, 27 intracavernous with subarachnoid extension, 6…
Phase error analysis of clipped waveforms in surface topography measurement using projected fringes
2021
Abstract When working with the method of projected fringes outside the optical laboratory one often encounters the problem of uncontrollable ambient light. This might cause saturation of the camera which in turn results in clipping of the fringes. Since standard theories describing phase-shifting techniques assume the projected fringes to be purely sinusoidal, such clipping will result in measurement error. In this paper a detailed analysis of this problem is given, and relations between phase errors, the amount of fringe clipping and the number of phase steps are found. Moreover, the phase difference between the clipped and the unclipped fringes is described. This investigation is based on…
Saīsinājumu lietojums tekstos par tirgvedību
2020
Use of a new aneurysm clip with an inverted-spring mechanism to facilitate visual control during clip application. Technical note.
1995
✓ When operating on deep-seated cerebral aneurysms, the surgeon's visual control of clip application may be impaired by the clip holder unless adjacent structures are retracted. To improve visual control and reduce the necessity for retraction, the senior author (A.P.) developed a new concept: an aneurysm clip with an inverted-spring mechanism. The clip has two jaws that point away from the clip blades. The jaws of the clip holder articulate with the inner side of the clip jaws. By distending the jaws of the clip holder the blades of the clip are opened and vice versa. Thus the visual field increases while the clip application is proceeding. This instrumentation is useful, especially in cas…
Tentorial Incision vs. Retraction of the Tentorial Edge during the Subtemporal Approach: Anatomical Comparison in Cadaveric Dissections and Retrospec…
2018
Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to compare tentorial incision (group A) versus retraction and tack up suture (group B) of the tentorial edge during the subtemporal approach for surgery in the high basilar region. Design 24 cadaveric dissections and 4 clinical cases of aneurysms of the high basilar region are presented. Assessment included visibility and operability afforded by either tentorial incision creating a dural flap (group A) or retraction of the tentorial edge and tethering with a suture (group B). Four patients, two with superior cerebellar artery aneurysms and two with proximal posterior cerebral artery aneurysms were treated with each approach. Results In the quanti…
Endoscope-assisted microsurgery for cerebral aneurysms.
1999
A total of 66 patients with intracranial aneurysms were endoscopically assisted treated during a 3 years period. Among those were five individuals with giant aneurysms and 27 patients with aneurysms of the posterior circulation. The endoscope was used only for checking the anatomical structures surround the aneurysms in 16 cases. In 43 patients the aneurysm sac was also dissected under endoscopical con-trol. Even the clipping procedure was performed in seven cases exclusively under endoscopical obser-vation. Only one prematural rupture occurred intraoperatively during preparation of a basilar tip aneurysm. Postoperatively three individuals with aneurysms located in the posterior circulation…
Implant-specific follow-up imaging of treated intracranial aneurysms: TOF-MRA vs. metal artifact reduced intravenous flat panel computed tomography a…
2017
Aim To compare the diagnostic quality of time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (TOF-MRA) and metal-artefact-reduction (MAR) flat-panel-detector computed tomography angiography (FPCTA) and to determine the imaging technique best suited for evaluation endovascular and surgically treated aneurysms. Methods The image quality of TOF-MRA and MAR-FPCTA of 44 intracranial implants (coiling: n= 20; clipping: n= 15; coiling + stenting: n= 9) in a patient cohort of 25 was evaluated by two independent readers. Images obtained using MAR-FPCTA (20 second scan time, 496 projections, intravenous contrast medium administration; Artis Zee, Siemens Healthcare, Forchheim) were compared with TOF-MRA-ima…

Background: Therapeutic anticoagulation in patients after a major neurosurgical procedure remains critical because of the risk of a major intracranial bleed. Novel drugs could play
Surgical management of ruptured small cerebral aneurysm: Outcome and surgical notes
2015
Background Management of small aneurysms often poses a therapeutic dilemma and surgical treatment or coiling can be considered as therapeutic choices. In the present study, we reviewed our series of ruptured small cerebral aneurysm treated surgically. Methods A total of 53 consecutive patients with ruptured small aneurysm were surgically treated between January 2008 and July 2014. Data were retrospectively collected. Procedure-related death and complications were systematically reviewed. Clinical outcomes were assessed using the Modified Ranking Scale. Neuroradiological follow-up was performed to assess aneurysmal occlusion and recanalization rate. Results The mean aneurysm size was 2 mm ± …
