Cabut, a C2H2 zinc finger transcription factor, is required during Drosophila dorsal closure downstream of JNK signaling.

2005

AbstractDuring dorsal closure, the lateral epithelia on each side of the embryo migrate dorsally over the amnioserosa and fuse at the dorsal midline. Detailed genetic studies have revealed that many molecules are involved in this epithelial sheet movement, either with a signaling function or as structural or motor components of the process. Here, we report the characterization of cabut (cbt), a new Drosophila gene involved in dorsal closure. cbt is expressed in the yolk sac nuclei and in the lateral epidermis. The Cbt protein contains three C2H2-type zinc fingers and a serine-rich domain, suggesting that it functions as a transcription factor. cbt mutants die as embryos with dorsal closure …

Performing arts and mediation technology in the period of lockdown

2021

Advancements in digital technologies have become novel ways to enrich communication, expression, and transmission of arts knowledge. Technology is increasingly implemented in the performance space, as a source of inspiration for artists. Especially in this period of lockdown, mediation technology has turned out to be an essential tool for different aspects of social life, as in performing arts. With venues, schools and artistic activities closed, performers, students and spectators have been obliged to keep connecting in remote conditions. This article wants to retrace the aesthetic impact of mediation technology in performing arts during this period of lockdown by focusing on the aspects t…

This article wants to retrace the aesthetic impact of mediation technology in performing arts during this period of lockdown by focusing on the aspects that induced advancements of strategies for the transmission of performing arts. The goal is to illustrate the potentialities as well as the challenges of the arttechnology encounter by underlining the transformation of the interaction with and perception of the performance space in remote conditions and in distance learning. The implementation of digital technologies is contributing to the evolution of the performing arts sector by facilitating futuristic approaches. 402 412mediation technology has turned out to be an essential tool for different aspects of social lifeas in performing arts. Theoretical and experimental studies of some main group compounds : from closed shell interactions to singlet diradicals and stable radicals

2012

Acquiring knowledge of different interactions within and between molecules is a fascinating undertaking as it not only deepens our understanding of chemical bonding but also offers insight into electronic structures, molecular properties and the connections between these two. This dissertation combines together three main group chemistry related topics within the aforementioned theme. Research presented in the first third of this dissertation describes wave function and density functional theory studies of weak inter- and intramolecular interactions in pnictogen-based dimers X3Pn···PnX3 (Pn = N-Bi; X = F-I), dithallenes RTlTlR (R = H, Me, tBu, Ph) and octachalcogen dications Ch82+ (Ch = S, …

Comparing tacrolimus ointment and oral cyclosporine in adult patients affected by atopic dermatitis: a randomized study

2004

BACKGROUND: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic allergic inflammatory disease, which manifests itself with eczematous skin lesions. OBJECTIVE: We compared the clinical efficacy of tacrolimus ointment (0.1%) given twice a day and oral cyclosporine (3 mg/kg) given once daily. Rescue medication for itching included cetirizine 10-20 mg (equal to one or two tables). METHODS: Thirty patients, aged 13-45 years (mean+/-SD 27.1+/-10.9), with a history of moderate-to-severe AD were randomized to treatments, 15 patients for each treatments. Assessment of efficacy was based on SCORAD, on scores of daily itching, erythema, interference with sleep, due to the skin condition and days without use of cetiri…

A NEW PHOTOGRAMMETRIC LAYOUT OF CAMERA STATIONS: A CASE STUDY

2015

This paper describes an easy and low cost photogrammetric method to determine the height of a point in relation to a reference plane. Such a method consists of an innovative geometric layout of the camera stations and specific algorithms. It is applicable to architectural surveying, in particular when the surface to be surveyed present a definitive geometry, with clearly identifiable defined points. The effectiveness of this method was verified through a case study carried out with the use of a digital camera and three dimensional targets. Two different pairs of images were obtained. One pair consists of images taken with a 35 mm and 19 mm focal length; the other one consists of images take…

1985

Summary The relation between cholecystectomy and colon carcinogenesis has not been fully elucidated. As bacteria may be involved in the carcinogenic process, we investigated the effect of cholecystectomy and dimethylhydrazine (DMH) administration to SPF NMRI mice with regard to tumour genesis and bacterial colonisation of the intestine. It results from this study that cholecystectomy does not influence tumour genesis and that 6–7 months post operationem and DMH administration tumours and bacteria originally not found in the animals develop: Clostridia, eubacteria spec, which cannot be differentiated and E. lentum. Theses changes appear in group II of mice (laparotomy and DMH) and group III …

Model transformation language MOLA

2005

The paper describes a new graphical model transformation language MOLA. The basic idea of MOLA is to merge traditional structured programming as a control structure with pattern-based transformation rules. The key language element is a graphical loop concept. The main goal of MOLA is to describe model transformations in a natural and easy readable way.

Increased number of Clostridium difficile infections and prevalence of Clostridium difficile PCR ribotype 001 in southern Germany

2008

In recent years, Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) has emerged as an increasing problem, both in in- and outpatients. In a rural region of southern Germany, the annual number of C. difficile toxin (Tcd)-positive patients has increased from 95 to 796 in the period from 2000 to 2007. Simultaneously, the proportion of positive tests among all Tcd examinations has risen from 7.0% to 12.8%, indicating that the higher number of affected patients was not solely due to an increase in the number of assays. Elevated numbers of CDI have recently been associated with outbreaks of the ribotype 027 strain, particularly in North America. This strain has also been isolated in Europe, including in Germa…
