Background: Recently, the number of refugees in Germany has skyrocketed, leading to a marked increase in refugee children admitted to hospitals. This study describes the special characteristics encountered in pediatric surgical inpatient refugees compared to locally residing patients. Methods: Hospital records of minor refugees admitted to our department from 2005 up to and including 2015 were retrospectively reviewed. Demographic data, diagnoses, comorbidities, body mass indexes, hemoglobin values, and lengths of stay were extracted and statistically compared to local patients. AbstractKuratowski and Ryll-Nardzewski's theorem about the existence of measurable selectors for multi-functions is one of the keystones for the study of set-valued integration; one of the drawbacks of this result is that separability is always required for the range space. In this paper we study Pettis integrability for multi-functions and we obtain a Kuratowski and Ryll-Nardzewski's type selection theorem without the requirement of separability for the range space. Abstract Biological monitoring of workers exposed to organophosphates consists mainly of measuring serum or erythrocyte cholinesterase activity. However, animal experiments and a field study suggest that quantitative analysis of EEG may be more sensitive. In a parallel group design, 25 farmers were investigated, spraying methyl parathion or water for 50 min. EEG was recorded before and after spraying. Serum and erythrocyte cholinesterase activity was compared with intraindividual pre-exposure values. Plasma methyl parathion concentrations ranged up to 12.1 μg/l, methyl paraoxon was not detectable. Behavioural studies on rats injected with l-cycloserine and other compounds

l-cycloserine, a cyclic derivative of O-substituted hydroxylamine, causes the suppression of the conditioned avoidance reaction in the rat. The subsequent injection of equimolar amounts of pyridoxine hydrochloride is responsible for a complete reversal of this suppression. The suppression of the conditioned response is not observed with the d-isomer of cycloserine. Isoniazid is a strong antagonist of l-cycoserine. Changes in the brain level of GABA under several conditions are described. These changes suggest though do not establish a relationship between the block of the conditioned response and the elevation of the aminoacid above its physiological concentration.

While only 1 type of release call is uttered byB. bufo, inB. viridis andB. calamita 2 and 3 types respectively were found. The latter 2 species show a close relationship,B. calamita being the most highly developed toad in Europe.

The effects of simultaneous administrations of Cyclosporin A (CsA) and Glyburide on the immune system of rats has been evaluated in terms of Interleukin-2 (IL-2) production by Concanavalin A (ConA) stimulated splenocytes and exogenous IL-2 binding capacity. The inhibitory effect of Cyclosporin A on IL-2 production of lymphoid cells is well known. Spleen cells from rats receiving CsA had reduced levels of IL-2 when compared to untreated controls or rats receiving Glyburide only. We have selected an etoposide-resistant variant (CCRF-CEM/VP-16) of the human T-lymphoblastic CCRF-CEM leukemia for study. Resistance to the topoisomerase II (topo II) inhibitor was about 11-fold and stable.
