W artykule zostaje postawione pytanie, na ile stały lub niestały jest to element i co wpływa na utrwalenie danego skrzydlatego słowa w kodzie danej wspólnoty. Częściową odpowiedź dają wyniki ankiety przeprowadzonej wśród studentów.

International audience; Auch nach dem Waffenstillstand wird der Erste Weltkrieg in der Berliner Illustrirten Zeitung (BIZ)-einem der ersten illustrierten Massenblätter-weiter thematisiert. Bei der Untersuchung dieses mediatisierten Krieges wird der Frage nachgegangen, was diese Bilderwelt über die fortschrittlichen Erwartungen, Ängste und Hoffnungen in der Weimarer Republik aussagt. Artykuł jest próbą naświetlenia zagadnienia rozwoju kultury pamięci mniejszości niemieckiej na Górnym Śląsku po 1989 r., zamieszkującej obszar polsko-czeskoniemieckiego pogranicza kulturowego. Tekst wskazuje, że rozwój kultury pamięci polskich Niemców, realizował się równolegle do procesu tworzenia się struktur mniejszości. Kulturę pamięci mniejszości niemieckiej, a generalnie pamięć tej zbiorowości, budowano w opozycji do przyjętego w Polsce nurtu postrzegania przeszłości, w szczególności w obszarze polsko-niemieckich relacji w ubiegłym wieku. The aim of this paper is to answer why collective memory should be taken into account in the linguistic discursive analysis of the Silesian collective identity construction, presented in the periodical entitled "Schlesische Provinzialblätter". Starting with the historical background of the periodical and making references to cultural and sociological studies related to collective identity, the author attemptes to identify the role played by collective memory in identity-building discourses and presents methodological propositions for a linguistic depiction of this phenomenon.

With World War II having razed vast parts of Europe by 1945, many citizens of the continent’s war-torn countries hoped they would soon leave behind the effects of turmoil, destruction, and trauma. The author examines the commemoration of D-Day (June 6, 1944), exploring why war commemoration rituals still captivate thousands of people and illustrating attempts that have been made to shape a peaceful future in postwar Europe. She draws on concepts of action theory to demonstrate how rituals create, in a single place, various kinds of space informed by ideology, beliefs, and knowledge and how they can help people come to terms with a harrowing past. Voices from the past: memory and desire in Marina Warner’s radio play Brigit’s Cell

This article examines Marina Warner’s radio play Birgitta’s Cell (BBC Radio 4), later published as Brigit’s Cell (2010) focusing on the themes of memory and desire. By drawing on Jan Assman’s theories on collective memory, the article shows how the two time levels Warner builds in the radio drama succeed in creating a fresh connection between women in the past and in the present as well as between individual and collective experience. The analysis of Warner’s work focuses on the dramatization of the story, taking into account the results offered by the use of the spoken word, fragments of dialogues, interior monologues, silences, enhanced, by its initial destination for the radio.

„Memory turn” in the humanities allows to approach old problems from a new perspective. The author argues that the sphere of complicated Russian-Polish relations should be presented as a conflict between two distinct collective memories. Pamięć w poemacie Dwanaście stacji Tomasza Różyckiego pełni nie tylko funkcję nośnika przeszłości. Jest również kreatorem niezwykłej podróży, którą odbywa główny bohater – nazwany przez narratora Wnukiem. Poprzez wspomnienia przenosi się on do czasów dzieciństwa, kiedy centrum jego świata stanowiła niewielka kamienica babci. Po latach przypomina sobie zdarzenia z nią związane – zapomniane przedmioty, niekończące się zabawy, smaki, zapachy, obrazy tamtych lat. Szuka tej przeszłości i na nowo ją interpretuje.
