Direct High-Performance Liquid Chromatographic Separation of Peptide Enantiomers: Study on Chiral Recognition by Systematic Evaluation of the Influe…
2002
All-R/all-S enantiomers of oligoalanines (Ala(n), n = 1-10) with N-terminal protection group have been separated by HPLC on chiral stationary phases based on various cinchona alkaloid selectors. Structure-enantioselectivity relationships derived by extensive selector structure optimization provided insights into binding mechanisms and chiral recognition. Their interpretation was supported by X-ray crystal structures of amino acid and dipeptide, respectively, in complex with chiral selector. Optimized selectors have bulky elements representing steric barriers and deep binding pockets that afforded very high enantioselectivities; e.g., for the all-R and all-S enantiomers of N-(3,5-dinitrobenz…
Efficient extraction and preparative separation of four main isoflavonoids from Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen leaves by deep eutectic solvents-based ne…
2016
In this study, green and efficient deep eutectic solvent-based negative pressure cavitation-assisted extraction (DES-NPCE) followed by macroporous resin column chromatography was developed to extract and separate four main isoflavonoids, i.e. prunetin, tectorigenin, genistein and biochanin A from Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen leaves. The extraction procedure was optimized systematically by single-factor experiments and a Box-Behnken experimental design combined with response surface methodology. The maximum extraction yields of prunetin, tectorigenin, genistein and biochanin A reached 1.204, 1.057, 0.911 and 2.448mg/g dry weight, respectively. Moreover, the direct enrichment and separation of…
ChemInform Abstract: Solution versus Fluorous versus Solid-Phase Synthesis of 2,5-Disubstituted 1,3-Azoles. Preliminary Antibacterial Activity Studie…
2010
A small library of compounds with an oxa(thia)zole scaffold and structural diversity in both positions 2 and 5 has been synthesized. Double acylation of a protected glycine affords intermediate alpha-amido-beta-ketoesters, which in turn can be dehydrated to afford 1,3-oxazoles or reacted with Lawesson's reagent to furnish 1,3-thiazoles. This procedure was designed with its adaptation to fluorous techniques in mind. Thus, when a protected glycine with a fluorous tag in the ester moiety is used as a starting material, the synthesis can be easily completed without column chromatography purification of intermediate compounds with good to excellent yields, thus affording a suitable entry to the …
Prediction of Peak Shape and Characterization of Column Performance in Liquid Chromatography as a Function of Flow Rate
2015
Traditionally, column performance in liquid chromatography has been studied using information from the elution of probe compounds at different flow rates through van Deemter plots, which relate the column plate height to the linear mobile phase velocity. A more recent approach to characterize columns is the representation of the peak widths (or the right and left peak half-widths) for a set of compounds versus their retention times, which, for isocratic elution, give rise to almost linear plots. In previous work, these plots have been shown to facilitate the prediction of peak profiles (width and asymmetry) with optimization purposes. In this work, a detailed study on the dependence of the …

Efficient and Mild Ytterbium(III)-Catalyzed Tosylation of Alcohols.
2004
Ytterbium(III) trifluoromethanesulfonate efficiently catalyzes the reaction of primary and secondary alcohols with toluenesulfonic acid anhydride to yield the alkyl tosylates in high yields. The reactions were carried outunder neutral and mild conditions and product purification was easily achieved by means of short column chromatography.
Two new metabolites from the endophytic fungus Xylaria sp. isolated from the medicinal plant Curcuma xanthorrhiza
2015
Abstract The endophytic fungus Xylaria sp. was isolated from healthy leaves of Curcuma xanthorrhiza, collected on the island of Timor, Indonesia. Two new compounds (1 and 2), together with the known resacetophenone (3), were isolated and their structures were elucidated on the basis of comprehensive NMR and mass spectral analyses. The enantiomers of rac-1 were separated by chiral HPLC and their HPLC-ECD spectra were recorded to determine the absolute configuration on the basis of TDDFT-ECD calculations. The (3R,3aR, 9aR) absolute configuration of the optically active 2 was established by comparing the experimental solution ECD spectrum with the TDDFT ones computed for the gas phase and solu…
Identification of metalloporphyrins extracted from the copper bearing black shale of fore sudetic monocline (Poland)
2006
Abstract Metalloporphyrins were isolated from copper-bearing black shale ores. The shale originates from the Lubin copper mine (Poland). The porphyrins have been extracted by way of a Soxhlet apparatus, and then purified using column chromatography. In order to identify the extracted porphyrins complexes UV–Vis, mass spectrometry and EPR analytical techniques have been used.
Synthesis of Optically Active Hydroxyalkyl Cycloheptatrienes: A Key Step in the Total Synthesis of 6,11-Methylene-LXB4
2020
AbstractStarting from methyl cycloheptatrienyl-1-carboxylate, 6-acylation was successfully achieved employing glutaryl chloride in the presence of AlCl3 under controlled reaction conditions to furnish keto carboxylic acid product. After protection of this keto carboxylic acid as tert-butyl ester, reagent-controlled enantioselective reductions delivered configuration-defined methyl-6-hydroxylalkyl cycloheptatriene-1-carboxylates with up to 80% ee. Whereas simple NaBH4 reduction of the keto carboxylic acid and subsequent lactonization afforded a methyl-6-tetrahydropyranonyl cycloheptatriene-1-carboxylate. Resolution using chiral HPLC delivered the product enantiomers with up to >99% ee Fin…
Solution properties of polyelectrolytes
1993
Abstract Aqueous size-exclusion chromatography was used to analyse the elution behaviour of several standard ionic polymers, including poly( l -glutamic acid), sodium poly(styrene sulphonate) and poly(acrylic acid), different in nature and chain flexibility, as a function of the pH and ionic strength of the eluent. Two organic-based hydrophilic packings, Spherogel TSK PW4000 and Ultrahydrogel 250, were tested in order to select the optimal conditions of macromolecular separation, and the results obtained for each column were compared. A set of calibration graphs for the above polyions as a function of eluent pH and ionic strength were obtained and compared with those obtained for uncharged …
