Rupture of the amniochorionic membranes is a recognized risk factor in the second and third trimester for chorioamnionitis, sepsis and preterm delivery. The isolated rupture of amnion is conversely responsible for a malformation spectrum known as early amnion rupture sequence or ADAM (Amniotic Deformity, Adhesions, Mutilations) complex, characterized by asymmetrical congenital anomalies, including limb reduction and craniofacial defects, usually arising during the 2nd or 3rd trimester of gestation. Age Differences in the Response of Willow Tits (Parus montanus ) to Conspecific Alarm Calls

Predation is an important mortality factor in wintering birds. To counter this, birds produce alarm calls in the presence of predators which serve to warn conspecifics. In social hierarchical bird flocks, adults survive the winter better than juveniles and therefore survival strategies probably vary with social status. This study examined the differential responses to alarm calls by free-living willow tits, Parus montanus, in dominance-structured winter flocks in Finland. The IceCube data acquisition system: Signal capture, digitization, and timestamping

IceCube is a km-scale neutrino observatory under construction at the South Pole with sensors both in the deep ice (InIce) and on the surface (IceTop). The sensors, called Digital Optical Modules (DOMs), detect, digitize and timestamp the signals from optical Cherenkov-radiation photons. The DOM Main Board (MB) data acquisition subsystem is connected to the central DAQ in the IceCube Laboratory (ICL) by a single twisted copper wire-pair and transmits packetized data on demand. A Cross-Cultural Analysis of Communication Apprehension : A Comparison of Three European Nations

Data from England, Finland, and Germany were used to explore national differences in communication apprehension (CA). Based on the traditions of oral communication training in each nation, and the history of cross-cultural comparisons in CA, it was proposed that national differences would emerge. The mammary pheromone of the rabbit: from where does it come?

Newborn rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus, are directed to their mother's nipples by specialized odour cues. Previous investigations have suggested that these cues are released from the doe's abdominal surface from structures located around the nipple. We tested pups with samples of various cutaneous tissues or fluids collected from lactating females to determine the location of the source of the odour cues. It is a conflict reflected in art history, and on the present occasion, through the iconographic types of Cain killing Abel as well as Tur murdering Iraj.
