The Health Behavior in School-aged Children is a cross-national study collecting data on social and health indicators on adolescents in 43 countries. The study provides comparable data on health behaviors and health outcomes through the use of a common protocol, which have been a back bone of the study sine its initiation in 1983. Recent years, researchers within the study have noticed a questionable comparability on the widely used item on self-rated health. Potential approach in marginalizing Gibbs models

Abstract Given an undirected graph G or hypergraph potential H model for a given set of variables V , we introduce two marginalization operators for obtaining the undirected graph G A or hypergraph H A associated with a given subset A ⊂ V such that the marginal distribution of A factorizes according to G A or H A , respectively. Finally, we illustrate the method by its application to some practical examples. With them we show that potential approach allow defining a finer factorization or performing a more precise conditional independence analysis than undirected graph models. Finally, we explain connections with related works.

In this paper, we are interested in Π-matrix completion problems, that is, when a partial Π-matrix has a Π-matrix completion. Here, we prove that a combinatorially symmetric partial positive P-matrix has a positive P-matrix completion if the graph of its specified entries is an n-cycle. In general, a combinatorially symmetric partial Π-matrix has a Π-matrix completion if the graph of its specified entries is a 1-chordal graph. School grading and institutional contexts

We study how the relationship between students' cognitive ability and their school grades depends on institutional contexts. In a simple abstract model, we show that unless competence standards are set at above-school level or the variation of competence across schools is low, students' competence valuation will be heterogeneous, with weaker schools inflating grades or flattening their dependence on competence, therefore reducing the information content and comparability of school grades. Using data from the OECD-PISA 2003 Survey, the model is applied to a sample of four countries, namely Australia, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. ComPWA: A common amplitude analysis framework for PANDA

A large part of the physics program of the PANDA experiment at FAIR deals with the search for new conventional and exotic hadronic states like e.g. hybrids and glueballs. For many analyses PANDA will need an amplitude analysis, e.g. a partial wave analysis (PWA), to identify possible candidates and for the classification of known states.
