Les effets du choix de l'école selon la nature du dispositif mis en œuvre : une approche comparative en terme d'équité
2007
This doctoral thesis analyses the implications derived from the regulations and the implementation of school choice programs at the level of the redistribution of the social good education – freedom for parents to choose the schools of their children, increasing the control of citizens on the way schools educate, maximisation of educational options for children, equalisation of educational opportunities, satisfaction of preferences, education to democracy, tolerance and autonomy. To this aim, we do a systematic empirical assessment of four school choice programs (London, Amsterdam, Paris and Buenos Aires) with the help of several methodological tools. On the one hand, a theoretical model of…
Tensions in the New Millennium : Inclusion Ideology and Education Policy in the Finnish Comprehensive School
2017
This article examines the discrepancy between the ideology of inclusive education and the national education policy in the Finnish comprehensive school education. The study covers twenty years and is based on observations that indicate that the change in comprehensive school education, grounded in inclusive education ideals, has been slow. This has been the case, even though Finnish education policy has, on principle, committed to many international statements that promote inclusion ideology. The data consists primarily of statistics indicating the number of students in special education and national and international research on the subject. It confirms our supposition, but also the fact t…

Nordic research on educational and vocational guidance: a systematic literature review of thematic features between 2003 and 2016
2018
Educational and vocational guidance has received increased attention with regard to policymaking in the Nordic countries over the last 15 years. This has led to a growing interest in research-based knowledge. Updating an earlier article, we undertake a systematic literature review of guidance research in the Nordic countries during this 15-year period. Features and themes, both country-specific and in the region as a whole, are revealed through the analysis of a variety of research documents. Therefore, this article provides insight into research-based knowledge grounded in the Nordic context—relevant for both practitioners and policymakers on a national, Nordic, and international level. pe…
Technology-Supported Educational Innovations in Finland and Hong Kong: A Tale of Two Systems
2005
The paper presents a comparison of case studies about innovative ICT-supported pedagogical practices in two educational systems, namely Finland and Hong Kong. The two systems were selected for this in-depth comparison for three main reasons. First, Finland and Hong Kong performed well in several international comparative studies of educational achievement. Second, the case studies collected via the SITES Module 2 indicated rather different profiles between Finnish and Hong Kong schools in terms of ICT infrastructure and pedagogical practices. Third, further analysis of the case studies data indicated differences in emergent pedagogical characteristics between the cases collected in Asia and…
Observations relating to compensations in the case of admission to the complaint against of the dismissal decision
2018
The study aims to analyze a consequence of the annulment of the dismissal decision by the court, for reasons of lackluster or unlawfulness. According to art. 80 of the Labor Code, in the event of the finding of illegality and/or inadequacy of the dismissal decision, the court orders the cancellation of the unilateral act of dismissal. An effect of the annulment of the dismissal decision is the employer's obligation - in all cases - to compensate the employee equal to the indexed, increased and updated salaries and the other rights that the employee would have been entitled to if he had not been dismissed. In relation to the imperative wording of the legal text, atypical assumptions are cons…
The level of context dependence of engagement markers in Peninsular Spanish and US business websites
2019
This paper examines the impact of Spaniards’ and North-Americans’ level of context dependence (Hall, 1976) on the engagement markers (Hyland & Tse, 2004) used on the presentation page of 100 business websites from the toy sector (50 from Spain and 50 from the US). Following an observational and a quantitative analysis, the findings reveal remarkable statistical differences in the interactional discourse of this digital genre, which may be a valuable source of information for export companies to introduce their products abroad by means of their business websites. In addition, we believe that the business website can be used in the teaching and learning of Spanish and English for professional…

ABSTRACT: The jurisprudence of the International Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda determined that, for the first time, the Statute of the International Crim…
