TFIIH Operates through an Expanded Proximal Promoter To Fine-Tune c-myc Expression

A continuous stream of activating and repressing signals is processed by the transcription complex paused at the promoter of the c-myc proto-oncogene. The general transcription factor IIH (TFIIH) is held at promoters prior to promoter escape and so is well situated to channel the input of activators and repressors to modulate c-myc expression. p53-Mediated downregulation of H ferritin promoter transcriptional efficiency via NF-Y.

The tumor suppressor protein p53 triggers many of the cellular responses to DNA damage by regulating the transcription of a series of downstream target genes. p53 acts on the promoter of the target genes by interacting with the trimeric transcription factor NF-Y. H ferritin promoter activity is tightly dependent on a multiprotein complex called Bbf; on this complex NF-Y plays a major role. The inner nuclear membrane protein Src1 associates with subtelomeric genes and alters their regulated gene expression

Inner nuclear membrane proteins containing a LEM (LAP2, emerin, and MAN1) domain participate in different processes, including chromatin organization, gene expression, and nuclear envelope biogenesis. In this study, we identify a robust genetic interaction between transcription export (TREX) factors and yeast Src1, an integral inner nuclear membrane protein that is homologous to vertebrate LEM2. DNA macroarray analysis revealed that the expression of the phosphate-regulated genes PHO11, PHO12, and PHO84 is up-regulated in src1Δ cells. Situations of minimal resolution are often found in liquid chromatography, when samples that contain a large number of compounds, or highly similar in terms of structure and/or polarity, are analysed. Use of sonication for measuring acid phosphatase activity in soil

Extracellular enzymes in soil often occur in immobilised forms, a state that may alter their interactions with substrates in comparison with enzymes in the solution phase. Sonication was evaluated for its usefulness in studying immobilised acid phosphatase by dispersing soil aggregates. Factors affecting soil dispersion during ultrasound application were soil extraction ratio, total applied energy and power output ml−1 of sonicated soil slurry. The major light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b complex (LHCII) of the photosynthetic apparatus in green plants consists of a membrane protein and numerous noncovalently bound pigments that make up about one-third of the molecular mass of the pigment-protein complex. Due to this high pigment density, LHCII is potentially interesting as a light-harvesting component in synthetic constructs. Abstract The relationship between gas-liquid chromatographic (GLC) retention properties and R F values in thin-layer chromatography (TLC) with molecular connectivity indices, m X t , was investigated for a series of benzodiazepines using multiple correlation coefficients, standard errors of estimate, F -Snedecor function values and Student's t -test as the criteria for best equation selection. Monitoring pesticide residues in honey, wax, and bees helps to assess the potential risk of these products to consumer health and gives information on the pesticide treatments that have been used on the field crops surrounding the hives. The present review seeks to discuss the basic principles and recent developments in pesticide analysis in bee products and their application in monitoring programs. Evaluation of several global resolution functions for liquid chromatography

Abstract An interpretative approach, that makes use of the overlapped fraction of each chromatographic peak as elementary resolution criterion, was applied to the separation of mixtures of compounds. The elementary resolution measurements for all peaks in the chromatogram were reduced to a single numerical value using several functions: normalised by the mean resolution product, unnormalised product, geometrical mean of the unnormalised product, and worst elementary resolution value. Measurement of the Md3+/Md2+ Reduction Potential Studied with Flow Electrolytic Chromatography

The reduction behavior of mendelevium (Md) was studied using a flow electrolytic chromatography apparatus. By application of the appropriate potentials on the chromatography column, the more stable Md(3+) is reduced to Md(2+). The reduction potential of the Md(3+) + e(-) → Md(2+) couple was determined to be -0.16 ± 0.05 V versus a normal hydrogen electrode.
