A cautionary note on the finite sample behavior of maximal reliability.
2019
Several calls have been made for replacing coefficient α with more contemporary model-based reliability coefficients in psychological research. Under the assumption of unidimensional measurement scales and independent measurement errors, two leading alternatives are composite reliability and maximal reliability. Of these two, the maximal reliability statistic, or equivalently Hancock's H, has received a significant amount of attention in recent years. The difference between composite reliability and maximal reliability is that the former is a reliability index for a scale mean (or unweighted sum), whereas the latter estimates the reliability of a scale score where indicators are weighted di…
A simple approach towards one-dimensional mesoporous carbon with superior electrochemical capacitive activity.
2009
One-dimensional (1D) mesoporous carbons with highly ordered 3D interconnected pore structure and large-diameter pore size (10–20 nm) have been synthesized by a simple precursor-controlled thermolysis approach; such unique carbonaceous frameworks show superior capacitive behavior in electrochemical double-layer capacitors.
Tuning the pore size from micro- to meso-porous in thermally stable aluminophosphates
1999
Thermally stable porous aluminophosphates (ICMUV-3) with P/Al molar ratios in the range 0.15 <= P/Al <= 0.75 and showing continuously adjustable pore sizes from 13 to 37 Å have been prepared through a surfactant-assisted procedure without changing the surfactant length and/or addition of organic expansors. Quasi-brittle porous material: Simulated effect of stochastic air void structure on compressive strength
2021
Abstract The effect of porosity comprised of spherical air voids on the compressive strength of quasi-brittle material was studied via simulations. The simulated porous structures were based on pore size distributions of two mortar samples measured by X-ray microtomography. While the simulation method set practical limits on the size of sample, the base of the statistics was established by simulating 128 small structures generated by sampling from pore structures of two mortars. By studying the application of the classical strength-porosity formulas to the simulated data, a new simple model was formed. A linear relationship was achieved between the cubic root of air void fraction (porosity)…
Acceleration of the through space S1 energy transfer rates in cofacial bisporphyrin bio-inspired models by virtue of substituents effect on the Först…
2011
The singlet k(ET) for cofacial β-octaalkylporphyrin/bis(meso-aryl)porphyrin dyads increases linearly with the gap between the donor-acceptor 0-0 fluorescence peaks at 77 K.
Selective chemisorption of carbon monoxide by organic-inorganic hybrid materials incorporating cobalt(III) corroles as sensing components.
2007
Twenty-one hybrid materials incorporating cobalt(III) corrole complexes were synthesized by a sol–gel process or by grafting the metallocorrole onto a mesostructured silica of the SBA-15 type. All the materials show an almost infinite selectivity for carbon monoxide with respect to dinitrogen and dioxygen in the low-pressure domain where the chemisorption phenomenon is predominant. This peculiar property is of prime importance for an application as a CO sensor. The selectivity slightly decreases at high pressures where nonselective physisorption phenomena mainly occur. The percentage of active sites for CO chemisorption ranges from 22 to 64 %. This low percentage may be attributable to inte…
Templated synthesis of a large and flexible covalent porphyrinic cage bearing orthogonal recognition sites.
2012
A large covalent cage incorporating two porphyrins attached by four long and flexible polyether chains each bearing two 3-pyridyl ligands was synthesized from a DABCO-templated olefin metathesis reaction. The X-ray structure of the cage with the DABCO coordinated inside the cavity to the two zinc(II) porphyrins reveals a highly symmetric structure.
Multifunctional hybrid Polyoxometalates for silicone gels with improved thermal and mechanical properties

The effect of dentine pre-treatment using bioglass and/or polyacrylic acid on the interfacial characteristics of resin-modified glass ionomer cements.
2018
Objective To evaluate the effect of load-cycle aging and/or 6 months artificial saliva (AS) storage on bond durability and interfacial ultramorphology of resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) applied to dentine air-abraded using Bioglass 45S5 (BAG) with/without polyacrylic acid (PAA) conditioning. Methods RMGIC (Ionolux, VOCO) was applied onto human dentine specimens prepared with silicon-carbide abrasive paper or air-abraded with BAG with or without the use of PAA conditioning. Half of bonded-teeth were submitted to load cycling (150,000 cycles) and half immersed in deionised water for 24 h. They were cut into matchsticks and submitted immediately to microtensile bond strength (μTBS) …
Forming pressure dependence of the ferroelectric domain structure in green barium titanate pellets
1995
Abstract Modifications of the X-ray diffraction line profiles by die pressing of fine grained powders of barium titanate have been studied. Two main parameters have been considered: the forming pressure and the mechanical characteristics of the binder. The higher the forming pressure, the greater the modifications of the line profiles. Furthermore, the phenomena seems to be related to pressing only; no significant effect related to the nature of the binder has been shown. The modifications of the diffraction line profiles are interpreted by considering a reduction of the size of the ferroelectric domains during pressing. In order to confirm this interpretation, the behaviour of the domain s…
