Blending canal surfaces along given circles using Dupin cyclides

We study blends between canal surfaces using Dupin cyclides via the space of spheres. We have already studied the particular case where it is possible to blend two canal surfaces using one piece of Dupin cyclide bounded by two characteristic circles, but this is not possible in the general case. That is why we solve this problem using two pieces of different cyclides, which is always possible. To get this conclusion and give the algorithms allowing to obtain such a result, we study, at first, the blend between two circles by a piece of cyclide. Iterative construction of Dupin cyclides characteristic circles using non-stationary Iterated Function Systems (IFS)

International audience; A Dupin cyclide can be defined, in two different ways, as the envelope of an one-parameter family of oriented spheres. Each family of spheres can be seen as a conic in the space of spheres. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to compute a characteristic circle of a Dupin cyclide from a point and the tangent at this point in the space of spheres. Then, we propose iterative algorithms (in the space of spheres) to compute (in 3D space) some characteristic circles of a Dupin cyclide which blends two particular canal surfaces. Round-handle decomposition ofS2×S1

2007

A round-handle decomposition is associated with a non-singular Morse–Smale flow on 3-manifolds prime to S 2× S 1. This decomposition has been built only for the 3-sphere S 3. In this paper we obtain the round-handle decomposition of non-singular Morse–Smale flows on S 2× S 1, in order to get all the different fattened round handles in this manifold. Some of them include non-separating boundary components that induce the topology of the links of periodic orbits.

Unifying vectors and matrices of different dimensions through nonlinear embeddings

Complex systems may morph between structures with different dimensionality and degrees of freedom. As a tool for their modelling, nonlinear embeddings are introduced that encompass objects with different dimensionality as a continuous parameter $\kappa \in \mathbb{R}$ is being varied, thus allowing the unification of vectors, matrices and tensors in single mathematical structures. This technique is applied to construct warped models in the passage from supergravity in 10 or 11-dimensional spacetimes to 4-dimensional ones. Some remarks on nonsmooth critical point theory

A general min-max principle established by Ghoussoub is extended to the case of functionals f which are the sum of a locally Lipschitz continuous term and of a convex, proper, lower semicontinuous function, when f satisfies a compactness condition weaker than the Palais-Smale one, i.e., the so-called Cerami condition. Abstract Alzhèimer Disease (AD) is characterized by protein aggregates in the brain, including amyloid-beta (Aβ), a substrate for tissue transglutaminase (TG2). We assessed the effect of full native peptide of Aβ (1–42), the fragments (25–35 and 35–25) on TG2 expression and its isoforms (Long and Short) on mouse Olfactory Ensheathing Cells (OECs). The levels of cytoskeletal proteins, Vimentin and Glial Fibrillary Acid Protein, were also studied.
