Kanban Systems in the Context of the Enterprise Systems

Companies are under increasing pressure from customers, competitors, limited resources, etc. These conditions oblige companies to permanently improve their organizational structure and the activities of all system’s flows. The paper analyses the types of Kanban systems, in the broader context of the enterprise systems. Uncountable realtime probabilistic classes

We investigate the minimum cases for realtime probabilistic machines that can define uncountably many languages with bounded error. We show that logarithmic space is enough for realtime PTMs on unary languages. On binary case, we follow the same result for double logarithmic space, which is tight. When replacing the worktape with some limited memories, we can follow uncountable results on unary languages for two counters.

Quantum Online Algorithms with Respect to Space Complexity

Online algorithm is a well-known computational model. We introduce quantum online algorithms and investigate them with respect to a competitive ratio in two points of view: space complexity and advice complexity. We start with exploring a model with restricted memory and show that quantum online algorithms can be better than classical ones (deterministic or randomized) for sublogarithmic space (memory), and they can be better than deterministic online algorithms without restriction for memory. Additionally, we consider polylogarithmic space case and show that in this case, quantum online algorithms can be better than deterministic ones as well.

Multi-scale analysis of the European airspace using network community detection

We show that the European airspace can be represented as a multi-scale traffic network whose nodes are airports, sectors, or navigation points and links are defined and weighted according to the traffic of flights between the nodes. By using a unique database of the air traffic in the European airspace, we investigate the architecture of these networks with a special emphasis on their community structure. We propose that unsupervised network community detection algorithms can be used to monitor the current use of the airspaces and improve it by guiding the design of new ones. Mathematics can also help make transformations from one artistic medium to another, considering exceptions and choices, as well as artists' individual and unique contributions. Voluntary agreements in protecting privately owned forests in Finland — To buy or to lease?

Abstract A voluntary conservation approach may reveal environmentally minded landowners who are willing to protect their lands with a compensation that is lower than the market price based compensation. Consequently, voluntary conservation programs may induce lower costs than traditional obligatory programs, such as a land taking. A Decision Making Tool in FMS Design

In FMS design one of the initial fundamental decision concerns the flexibility level of the workstations to be implemented. New machining centers offer the possibility to carry out several operations on the workpieces to be processed, thus reducing the workload both of the material handling system and of the resources used to control the part flow in the FMS. In spite of advantages related to the use of the machining centers with high flexibility, the better typology of each workstation must be evaluated taking into account its influence on the tools fleet and on the workload of the handling and tool room subsystems.
