This work addresses the way in which Argentine Fat Activism has developed, in recent years, the demand for depathologization of fatness, taking elements from critical discourses on the health of fat people to frame them in a perspective typical of the Human Rights. This research aims to describe pattern recognition models for detecting behavioural and health-related changes in a patient who is monitored continuously in an assisted living environment. The early anticipation of anomalies can improve the rate of disease prevention. Anxiety and pain perception in patients undergoing mandibular autogenous block bone surgery

Background The aim of the present study was to investigate pain perception and anxiety within the context of surgery for the placement of mandibular block bone and to evaluate the causality effect between theses variables. Material and methods A total of 13 patients were recruited for the study and were submitted to mandibular autogenous block bone surgery. Demographic data were collected and the anxiety level was determined using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). The STAI was administered on the day of surgery and on the 14th postoperative day. Abstract Objectives This paper is based on the analysis of the database of operations from a macro-case on money laundering orchestrated between a core company and a group of its suppliers, 26 of which had already been identified by the police as fraudulent companies. In the face of a well-founded suspicion that more companies have perpetrated criminal acts and in order to make better use of what are very limited police resources, we aim to construct a tool to detect money laundering criminals. Transport policy and climate change: How to decide when experts disagree

Abstract Transport is the sector with the fastest growth of greenhouse gases emissions in many countries. Accumulation of these emissions may cause uncertain and irreversible adverse climate change impacts. In this context, we use the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to face the question on how to select the best transport policy if the experts have different opinions and beliefs on the occurrence of these impacts. Single umbilical cord blood with or without CD34+ cells from a third-party donor in adults with leukemia

We retrospectively compared the clinical outcomes of adults with acute leukemia who received single-unit umbilical cord blood (UCB) transplantation (sUCBT) (n = 135) or stem cell transplant using coinfusion of a UCB graft with CD34+ cells from a third-party donor (Haplo-Cord) (n = 72) at different institutions within the Grupo Espanol de Trasplante Hematopoyetico. Burkholderia cepacia septicemia in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia in postchemotherapy bone marrow aplasia

The patients with hematologic malignancies are predisposed to develop infections with unusual bacteria, like Burkholderia cepacia, which is frequently resistant to many antibiotics and antiseptics. We present the case of a female patient with acute myeloid leukemia type 2 on the background of myelodysplastic syndrome, from whom Burkholderia cepacia was isolated in blood culture, after the 2(nd) cycle of induction. She was sensitive to ceftazidime, but its eradication was not easy. Five other patients were contaminated with this bacteria, but all of them had favourable evolution. The case is discussed in the context of those similar in literature.

By applying linear adaptive filtering principles in the kernel feature space, powerful nonlinear adaptive filtering algorithms can be obtained.
