This paper offers a contrastive analysis of Indian captivity narratives and the Native American boarding-school experience. Indian captivity narratives describe the ordeals of white women and men, kidnapped by Indians, who were separated from their families and subsequently lived months or even years with Indian tribes. The Native American boarding-school experience, which began in the late nineteenth century, took thousands of Indian children from their parents for the purpose of “assimilation to civilization” to be facilitated through governmental schools, thereby creating a captivity of a different sort. This essay offers a sampling of a multilingual contrastive analysis of poems by Ausiàs March and the ones in «Tirant lo Blanch» (original versions and their respective translations) as regards locutions, collocations and phraseology. These elements are fully characteristic of the literary language of any author and, at the same time, they indicate his degree of command of his vehicular language or of the language for literary creation. De l'infinitive de perception dans la pratique traductologique

The subject of the study are the infinitive subordinate clauses (ICP). These infinitive structures, introduced by a perception verb like voir (‘see’), regarder (‘watch’), entendre (‘hear’), écouter (‘listen’) and sentir (‘smell’), are composed of two complements: a noun phrase and a verb infinitive (j’entends les oiseaux chanter ‘I hear birds sing’). We are interested in ICP in a French-Polish traductological perspective. Maģistra darba izveidē tika izmantotas kontrastīvā analīze un kvalitatīvās pētniecības metodes.
