Reliability of Parameter Estimation Methods Applied to the Identification of Biomedical Multicompartment Systems
1985
Abstract The reliability of parameter estimation in biomedical multicompartment models is influenced by the chosen mathematical representation of the model, by the sensitivity of the output on the relevant parameters to be identified and by the experimental conditions, e.g. choice of the data-set. this paper the reliability of different parameter estimation methods applied in a multi-compartment model of the circulatory system has been studied under the assumption that there exists a partially system output insensitivity against the compliance parameters. Suitable conditions for efficient parameter estimation have been found by simulation of sensitivity equations of the system, which is of …
Heavy-Ion Radiation Impact on a 4 Mb FRAM Under Different Test Modes and Conditions
2016
International audience; The impact of heavy-ions on commercial Ferroelectric Memories (FRAMs) is analyzed. The influence of dynamic and static test modes as well as several stimuli on the error rate of this memory is investigated. Static test results show that the memory is prone to temporary effects occurring in the peripheral circuitry, with a possible effect due to fluence. Dynamic tests results show a high sensitivity of this memory to switching activity of this peripheral circuitry.
First results towards building up a reliable in situ measurements database for LST algorithm validations using modular WSN: Northern Morocco campaign…
2012
This article presents a new method sensitivity ∼0.1°C for in situ LST measurements. The results of wide in situ LST campaigns carried out during 2009 in four distant and different sites located in northern Morocco are shown: 1 Kasr-Seghir, 2 Targha, 3 Tangier, and 4 Chefchaouen. For this purpose, we used two calibrated radiometers with thermal infrared bands, OSM101 and TESTO845. Finally, during these campaigns, a total of 28,531 measurements were made with the proposed wireless-LST Wi-LST system. The preliminary results show a wide variability of the measurements, which is in total accordance with the heterogeneity of the targets' nature. This is encouraging for we are interested in buildi…
Assessing the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants in an uncertain context: a DEA with tolerances approach
2012
Abstract As the number of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) has increased, the economics associated with their management have become more relevant. The efficiency assessment is therefore a useful tool for cost reduction. For this purpose, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a highly suitable technique, since it is a holistic approach that aggregates performance indicators into a single index. However, one of the most common criticisms of DEA models is that information on uncertainty estimates is not provided. To overcome this limitation, we assess efficiency by using a DEA model with statistical tolerances for both inputs and outputs. This model is applied to a sample of Spanish WWTPs. Th…
System Stability of a Small Island's Network with Different Levels of Wind Power Penetration
2018
The reduction of the inertial response of the generation system has been one of the main obstacles to the penetration of high sharing of renewable energy sources in islanded systems. This issue can be solved thanks to innovative control that makes wind turbines able to provide the so-named synthetic inertia. The paper investigates some scenarios with different levels of wind power penetration in a small island whose grid is not supplied by the main grid, by the use of the software NEPLAN 360, simulating the wind power plants accordingly to the standard IEC 61400-27. The aim of the paper is to assess the maximum level of penetration in the island of wind generation, with traditional control …
ERP in action — Challenges and benefits for management control in SME context
2013
ERP systems have fundamentally re-shaped the way business data is collected, stored, disseminated and used throughout the world. However, the existing research in accounting has provided only relatively few empirical findings on the implications for management control when companies implement ERP systems as the technological platform. Especially scarce are the findings concerning the production phase, after implementation, when the information processes, related work practices and the new information contents can be seen as established. In this paper we explored and theorized the benefits, challenges and problems for management control when an ERP system is in use, four years after the impl…
Network-based H∞ output feedback control for uncertain stochastic systems
2013
This paper investigates the problem of network-based Floc, output feedback control for a class of stochastic nonlinear systems. A novel model is proposed to describe the systems taken into two sides of communication channels in the network environment, which is more general than one side of communication channel. The design procedure of observer-based controller is presented, which, guarantees the asymptotic stability in the mean square of the resulting closed-loop system with an H-infinity performance. Finally, a crane example is utilized to show the effectiveness and potential of the developed techniques. Refereed/Peer-reviewed
Input-Output Feedback Linearizing Control of Linear Induction Motor Taking into Consideration the End-Effects. Part II: Simulation and Experimental R…
2015
This is the second part of a paper, divided in two parts, dealing with the application of the input–output feedback linearization (FL) control technique to linear induction motors (LIMs). The first part has treated the theoretical formulation of the input–output feedback linearization control technique as to be applied to linear induction motors. This second part describes the set of tests, both in numerical simulations and experiments, performed to assess the validity of the control technique. In particular, it addresses the issues of the sensitivity of the FL control versus the LIM electrical parameters’ variations and the improvements achievable by considering the LIM dynamic end effects…
Robust stability and stabilization of uncertain T-S fuzzy systems with time-varying delay: An input-output approach
2013
An input-output approach to the stability and stabilization of uncertain Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with time-varying delay is proposed in this paper. The time-varying parameter uncertainties are assumed to be norm-bounded, and the delay is intervally time varying. A novel method is employed to approximate the time-varying delay, based on which the considered system is transformed into a feedback interconnection form. The new formulation of the system is comprised of a forward subsystem with constant time delay and a feedback subsystem embedding the uncertainties. By applying the scaled small-gain theorem to the converted system, less conservative stability and stabilization criteria…
Managerial understanding and attitudes towards beyond budgeting in Ukraine
2019
In order to find out how Ukrainian practitioners understand and evaluate management control innovation - beyond budgeting - this study examines their attitudes towards this concept and meanings they attach to it in the process of learning and sensemaking. Results show how the content and meaning of novel management innovation is reinterpreted and negotiated in new institutional context. Empirical evidences support the central statement of institutional theory, namely a replacement of practice's former technical functions by institutional facts, specific symbolic meanings and collective understandings. The findings reported serve to demonstrate the gradual replacement of brute facts and empi…
