El análisis marxista de las necesidades sociales
2018
The disappearance of the so-called «real socialism» has concealed the validity of the Marxist analysis of social reality. One of the sets of hypotheses that has best maintained its heuristic capacity is the Marxist theory of needs. The Marxist hypotheses have been developed in debate with other conventional conceptions. Currently, feminism and the ecological analysis of needs are renewing the views of Heller and Habermas.
Efficacy of the laser at low intensity on primary burning oral syndrome: a systematic review.
2020
Background Primary burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is a chronic clinical condition of idiopathic mainly characterized by pain and a burning sensation in the oral cavity. The application of laser at low intensity therapy is a treatment option. This systematic review evaluated the efficacy of laser therapy in treating symptoms of burning mouth syndrome. Material and Methods The study was formulated according to the PRISMA and Cochrane guidelines. Seven databases were used as primary sources of research. Only randomized controlled clinical trials were included. The efficacy of the therapy was estimated comparing the values of the visual and numerical scales of pain before and after laser treatmen…
Intermediate Isolation System for the seismic retrofit of existing masonry buildings
2022
This paper deals with the potentials of Intermediate Isolation Systems (IIS) for retrofitting masonry buildings by means of a vertical extension, isolated at its base, and realized on the rooftop of the existing structure. By carefully defining the dynamic properties of the superstructure and isolation system, in previous papers the authors have demonstrated that this passive technique is able to reduce a priori the seismic demand on the existing building. For this reason, the non-linear behavior has been only assumed for the isolation system, with the masonry structure in the elastic field. This result has been validated by carrying out spectrum-compatible time history analyses on the 3D F…
Biotechnological innovations in fermentation process of brewing and honey-based beverages industry
2022
2000
Purpose: To evaluate if Couinaud's model using the planes of the major veins is an adequate tool for the presurgical localization of focal liver lesions. Methods: Biphasic helical CT scans were performed on patients evaluated for liver resection using an increased IV bolus of contrast medium (180 ml lopamidol) and 2 mm image reconstruction increments. During the first evaluation, all liver lesions were localized in the conventional way using the planes of the 3 major hepatic veins and the portal trunks as segmental boundaries. In a second review, all lesions were attributed to the nearest peripheral portal branches. The path and the segmental attribution of the portal branches were analysed…
Humoral immunotherapy of multiple myeloma: perspectives and perplexities
2010
IMPORTANCE OF THE FIELDS Multiple myeloma (MM) is a hematological malignancy still remaining incurable despite the various therapies available, mainly because of the high fraction of refractory/relapsing cases. Therefore, the development of novel therapeutic approaches is urgently needed to overcome conventional treatment resistance. AREAS COVERED IN THIS REVIEW: In the era of targeted therapies, treatments combining a high specificity for neoplastic cells and the capability to interfere with environmental signals should be regarded as the weapons of choice. Monoclonal antibody (mAb)-based humoral immunotherapy could satisfy both these requirements when applied to MM. Indeed, many of the mo…

Coronary Revascularization and Long-Term Survivorship in Chronic Coronary Syndrome
2021
Ischemic heart disease (IHD) persists as the leading cause of death in the Western world. In recent decades, great headway has been made in reducing mortality due to IHD, based around secondary prevention. The advent of coronary revascularization techniques, first coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery in the 1960s and then percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in the 1970s, has represented one of the major breakthroughs in medicine during the last century. The benefit provided by these techniques, especially PCI, has been crucial in lowering mortality rates in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, in the setting where IHD is most prevalent, namely chronic coronary syndrome (CC…
0349: Transfer of acute coronary syndrome patients in the Alps (SCA-Alpes). Data from the RESURCOR network
2016
RationaleIn France, the transfer of patients with an acute coronary syndrome (ACS) from one centre to another is usually done by SMUR, with on-board medical staff. However, SMUR is not always available. In this study from the RESURCOR network, we investigated clinical outcomes in ACS patients transferred in private ambulances without on-board medical staff.MethodIn the French Alps, the RESURCOR network arranges “SCAAlpes” transfers in private ambulances with no medical doctors on board but with non-medically trained staff who follow strict management protocols. Ambulances are equipped with an automatic external defibrillator and patients are not under heart monitoring. These transfers are f…
Ventricular structural changes in patients with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) and myocardial infarction
2018
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with cardiovascular diseases. Aim: To analyze structural parameters of myocardial damage in patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and its relationship with OSA severity. Method: This is a prospective, observational study in patients with a first acute myocardial infarction (MI) treated by percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) studies were performed at 3 days and 6 months. Eligible patients underwent a polysomnography within 30 days after PCI. Quantitative data were expressed as mean±SD. Linear regression analysis was used to describe associations between infarct characteristics and OSA. …
