Effects of a French remedial program on pupils’ educational outcomes
2018
International audience; Few studies have examined the French “Networks for Specialized Assistance to Pupils in Difficulty” (Rased). In this article, we evaluate the impact of receiving Rased services in the first year of primary schooling on academic success. Using data from a national panel study, we find inconsistency in student selection within Rased. Using matching methods, our results reveal that pupils who benefited from the program school have a higher probability of grade repetition and obtain significantly lower scores on the third grade national assessment, particularly in mathematics, compared to pupils with similar characteristics who did not take part in the program. This impac…
Integrating greenness into a balanced scorecard in a food processing company
2012
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate how and why a case company integrated an environmental management system (EMS) into a performance management system (PMS), specifically a balanced scorecard (BSC).Design/methodology/approachThis interpretative case study utilized qualitative methods in semi‐structured interviews, internal documents and e‐mails.FindingsThe company integrated its environmental measures into the process perspective in its BSC. The integration centralized its fragmented PMS, stimulated its strategic control and complemented its financial reporting. This integration also crystallized the causality between the company's environmental actions and financial perform…
Communication quality and added value: a measurement instrument for municipalities
2009
PurposeThis study aims to achieve a better understanding of communication quality and how it can be measured in the municipal context. A previously developed instrument for measuring communication in municipalities is tested and evaluated.Design/methodology/approachThe instrument draws on the balanced scorecard of Kaplan and Norton and quality control procedures as utilised by the European Foundation of Quality Measurement (EFQM). For municipalities, communication quality can be defined as the degree to which communication contributes towards the effectiveness of municipal policy and how it strengthens the relationship between citizens and municipal organisations. Three communication functi…
(Un)Routinization of the Environmental Performance Measures – A Case Study; BSC Rules but Does not Routinize
2009
This study focuses on the (un)routinization of environmental performance measures (EPMs). It studies how new environmental measures were implemented within the new environmental management system (EMS) and how they became connected with the financial measures, like cost savings and profitability. By doing so, they were connected to the taken-for-granted profit orientation of the case company in order to overcome these values and to make them succeed in organization. Later on these new measures were also included in the new BSC. In conditions of the profit oriented taken-for-granted values, the BSC locked the rule status of the environmental measures, but it locked them at the operational le…
Learning to Teach Mathematics: Expanding the Role of Practicum as an Integrated Part of a Teacher Education Programme
2009
The premise of the 15th ICMI Study is that teachers are key to students' opportunities to learn mathematics. What teachers of mathematics know, care about, and do is a product of their experiences and socialization, together with the impact of their professional education. The Professional Education and Development of Teachers of Mathematics assembles important new international work- development, research, theory and practice - concerning the professional education of teachers of mathematics. As it examines critical areas to reveal what is known and what significant questions and problems warrant collective attention, the volume also contributes to the strengthening of the international co…

Evaluation of the impact of therapeutic management on the survival and quality of life of patients with follicular lymphoma or diffuse large B cell l…
2014
In France, hematologic malignancies, which are the sixthmost common cancers, are amajor public healthproblem. This work aimed to study the impact of the therapeutic management on survival and healt-relatedquality of life (HRQoL) in patients with these hematologic malignancies. The first objective of this work is topresent an overview of the epidemiology of lymphoid malignancies with a study of changes in the incidenceand net survival in the Côte d’Or department between 1980 and 2009. The incidence, which has increased since1980, seems to have stabilized since the 2000s for some entities, including follicular lymphoma (FL) and diffuselarge B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Overall, we observed an imp…
Neural network approach to solving fuzzy nonlinear equations using Z-numbers
2020
In this article, the fuzzy property is described by means of the Z-number as the coefficients and variables of the fuzzy equations. This alteration for the fuzzy equation is appropriate for system modeling with Z-number parameters. In this article, the fuzzy equation with Z-number coefficients and variables is tended to be used as the models for the uncertain systems. The modeling issue related to the uncertain system is to obtain the Z-number coefficients and variables of the fuzzy equation. Nevertheless, it is extremely hard to get the Z-number coefficients of the fuzzy equations. In this article, in order to model the uncertain nonlinear systems, a novel structure of the multilayer neura…
The clinical benefit of instituting a prospective clinical community-acquired respiratory virus surveillance program in allogeneic hematopoietic stem…
2019
Highlights • Rapid detection methods used as first diagnostic test for CARVs may delayed the start of antiviral therapy in a significant number of influenza and RSV cases. • Syndromic multiplex RT-PCR-based prospective clinical CARV survey in allo-HCT recipients translates into a lower mortality rate as compared to standard clinical practice based on RSV and influenza virus rapid detection test. • We found that donor/recipient HLA mismatch, CARV LRTD and high-risk ISI were also associated with higher mortality.
PERFORMANCE OF DIFFUSION KURTOSIS IMAGING FOR CHARACTERIZATION OF PROSTATE LESIONS USING 1.5T MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING SCANNER
2020
The aim of the study is to evaluate the diagnostic performance of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and apparent kurtosis coefficient (Kapp) for the characterization of prostate lesions on 1.5T MRI. This retrospective study included 34 patients with at least one lesion with PI-RADS score≥ 3. Performances of ADC and Kapp were evaluated using the Mann-Whitney U test and receiver operating characteristics curve (AUROC). Lesions with Gleason score≥6 had significantly lower Kapp compared to benign lesions (p=0.025). The ADC-ratio was the only significantly different parameter between GS≥7 and GS=6 lesions (p=0.039). Kapp showed the largest AUROC for the diagnosis of GS≥6 prostate cancers (AUR…
