A spatial analysis of Italian unemployment differences

Using spatial econometric models, this paper focuses attention on the spatial structure of provincial unemployment disparities of Italian provinces for the year 2003. On the basis of findings from the economic literature and of the available socio-economic data, various model specifications including supply- and demand-side variables are tested. Further we use ESDA analysis as equivalent to integration analysis on time series; therefore it is applied on each variable, dependent and independent, involved in the statistical model. Spatial moving average risk smoothing

This paper introduces spatial moving average risk smoothing (SMARS) as a new way of carrying out disease mapping. This proposal applies the moving average ideas of time series theory to the spatial domain, making use of a spatial moving average process of unknown order to define dependence on the risk of a disease occurring. Correlation of the risks for different locations will be a function of m values (m being unknown), providing a rich class of correlation functions that may be reproduced by SMARS. We review one of the most versatile theoretical approaches to the study of time-dependent correlated quantum transport in nano-systems: the non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) formalism. Within this formalism, one can treat, on the same footing, inter-particle interactions, external drives and/or perturbations, and coupling to baths with a (piece-wise) continuum set of degrees of freedom. After a historical overview on the theory of transport in quantum systems, we present a modern introduction of the NEGF approach to quantum transport. In cluster-randomized trials, groups of individuals (clusters) are randomized to the treatments or interventions to be compared. In many of those trials, the primary objective is to compare the time for an event to occur between randomized groups, and the shared frailty model well fits clustered time-to-event data. Members of the same cluster tend to be more similar than members of different clusters, causing correlations. As correlations affect the power of a trial to detect intervention effects, the clustered design has to be considered in planning the sample size. Abstract Volatility is a key variable in the modeling of financial markets. The most striking feature of volatility is that it is a long-range correlated stochastic variable, i.e. its autocorrelation function decays like a power-law τ − β for large time lags. Large-distance asymptotic behaviour of multi-point correlation functions in massless quantum models

We provide a microscopic model setting that allows us to readily access to the large-distance asymptotic behaviour of multi-point correlation functions in massless, one-dimensional, quantum models. The method of analysis we propose is based on the form factor expansion of the correlation functions and does not build on any field theory reasonings. It constitutes an extension of the restricted sum techniques leading to the large-distance asymptotic behaviour of two-point correlation functions obtained previously.

Multivariate nonparametric statistical tests of hypotheses are described for the one-sample location problem, the several-sample location problem and the problem of testing independence between pairs of vectors. These methods are based on affine-invariant spatial sign and spatial rank vectors. They provide affine-invariant multivariate generalizations of the univariate sign test, signed-rank test, Wilcoxon rank sum test, Kruskal–Wallis test, and the Kendall and Spearman correlation tests. In this paper we present a study on pulse noise sources characterized by sub- and super-Poisson statistics. We make a comparison with their uncorrelated counterpart. i.e. pulse noise with Poisson statistics, while showing that the correlation properties of sub- and super-Poisson noise sources can be efficiently applied to population dynamics.
