Do All Juveniles Belong to Cosa Nostra? Palermo and Catania are the two main cities of Sicily - Despite the fact that they share similar problems, such as underdevelopment, unemployment and social deprivation, the Juvenile Courts of the two cities apply different policies when dealing with juvenile deviants. When the same kind of crimes committed by juvenile defendants are considered, the Palermo court is found to be more lenient than its counterpart in Cata235 nia. Femicide and murdered women’s children: which future for these children orphans of a living parent?

Background: To assess the prevalence of femicides in Italy over the last three years and the potential long lasting effects of these traumatic events for the children of a woman who dies a violent death. Methods: The data used in this study come from an internet search for the number of femicides occurring in Italy between 1st January, 2012 and 31st October, 2014. Results: The total number of femicides was 319; the average age of murdered women was 47.50∈±∈19.26. Cold arms in the form of sharp object -mostly knives- have caused the death of 102/319 women; firearms were used in 87/319 cases; asphyxiation was the chosen method in 52/319 cases. Migrant Smuggling Across the Mediterranean: An Economic Analysis

In this chapter we provide an analysis of migrant smuggling across the Central Mediterranean Route. The analysis will be carried out through the lenses of economic analysis and of organized crime studies. Our work is based on in-depth interviews conducted with smuggled migrants, and immigration and anti-smuggling operators, with particular focus on land smuggling in West Africa, i.e. from Agadez in Niger into Libya. We will extrapolate the stylized facts of smuggling from the demand side for such ‘service’, i.e. from the migrants, and propose an economic interpretation. Bakalaura darba “Noziedzības cēloņi un to novēršana” mērķis ir sociālas problēmas iespējamo patieso cēloņu noskaidrošana, piedāvājot saprātīgus risinājumus to novēršanai. Kriminoloģiskā domāšana pieļauj starpdisciplināru izpēti, kas nav ierobežota ar juridiskiem terminiem vien. Lai arī tas uzdevumu padara grūtāku, mēģinājums tiks veikts. Par būtiskāko problēmjautājumu autors uzskata noziedzīga nodarījuma izdarītāja “brīvo gribu”, jo tā aizvien ir krimināltiesību pamatā, tomēr var izrādīties tikai ilūzija. Tiks aplūkoti divi galvenie ietekmējošo faktoru kopumi. Autors saglabā pārliecību, ka gudra šo faktoru ņemšana vērā var noziedzības novēršanu padarīt daudz efektīvāku.
