Location of holes in silicon-rich oxide as memory states

The induced changes of the flatband voltage by the location of holes in a silicon-rich oxide (SRO) film sandwiched between two thin SiO 2 layers [used as gate dielectric in a metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitor] can be used as the two states of a memory cell. The principle of operation is based on holes permanently trapped in the SRO layer and reversibly moved up and down, close to the metal and the semiconductor, in order to obtain the two logic states of the memory. The concept has been verified by suitable experiments on MOS structures. Abstract This paper aims to characterize a bulk dense FeAl (47 at.%) alloy synthesized and consolidated by one-step current-activated pressure-assisted processing of nanocrystalline elemental powders. The end-product was analyzed using a combination of scanning (SEM) and transmission electron microscopies (TEM), electron back-scattering diffraction (EBSD) as well as electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). Special attention was paid to verify the grain size (32–89 nm) previously determined by X-ray diffraction peak profile analysis. Interaction of half-sandwich alkylmolybdenum(III) complexes with B(C6F5)3. The X-ray structure of [CpMo(η4-C4H6)(μ-Cl)(μ-CH2)(O)MoCp][CH3B(C6F5)3]

Abstract The reactions of the half-sandwich molybdenum(III) complexes CpMo(η 4 -C 4 H 4 R 2 )(CH 3 ) 2 , where Cpη 5 -C 5 H 5 and RH or CH 3 , with equimolar amounts of B(C 6 F 5 ) 3 have been investigated in toluene. EPR monitoring shows the formation of an addition product which does not readily react with Lewis bases such as ethylene, pyridine, or PMe 3 . The analysis of the EPR properties and the X-ray structure of a decomposition product obtained from dichloromethane, [CpMo(η 4 -C 4 H 6 )(μ-Cl)(μ-CH 2 )(O)MoCp][CH 3 B(C 6 F 5 ) 3 ], indicate that the borane attack has occurred at the methyl position.

Polarization Modulation Instability in Dispersion-Engineered Photonic Crystal Fibers

2021

Generation of widely spaced polarization modulation instability (PMI) sidebands in a wide collection of photonic crystal fibers (PCF), including liquid-filled PCFs, is reported. The contribution of chromatic dispersion and birefringence to the net linear phase mismatch of PMI is investigated in all-normal dispersion PCFs and in PCFs with one (or two) zero dispersion wavelengths. Large frequency shift sidebands are demonstrated experimentally. Suitable fabrication parameters for air-filled and liquid-filled PCFs are proposed as guidelines for the development of dual-wavelength light sources based on PMI.

First evidence of avian pox-like outbreaks in Eurasian coots, Fulica atra, from Europe: A widespread phenomenon?

Avian pox is a disease caused by Avipoxvirus spp. that is known to produce self-limiting, proliferative epithelial lesions in over 275 bird species from 70 families. Although generally benign, this emerging disease can sometimes provoke significant outbreaks of mortality. In rallids, there is a single serological record of Avipoxvirus. In this study, we report on field evidence for two avian pox-like outbreaks in Eurasian coots, Fulica atra. In Utterslev Mose, Denmark, 17 birds were found in the winter and early spring of 2006 with putative signs of pox-like lesions on the frontal shield and bill. Novel mixed-valence Cu compounds formed by Cu(II) dimers with double oximato bridges: in situ formation of anionic layer [Cu2(SCN)3]n(n-).

Two new N3O donor ketoxime Schiff bases (HL(1) and HL(2)) have been synthesized by condensing N,N-dimethylethylenediamine with diacetylmonoxime and benzilmonoxime, respectively in a 1:1 ratio. Reaction of Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O with HL(1) resulted in a discrete oximato-bridged dinuclear Cu(II) complex [Cu2(L(1))2(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (1). The same reaction in presence of NaSCN affords the complex {[Cu(II)2(L(1))2][Cu(I)4(μ(1,3)-SCN)4(μ(1,1,3)-SCN)2]}n (2), where partial Cu(II)→Cu(I) reduction is observed.
