iHERITAGE Project : AR/VR for the enhancement and accessibility of the norman architecture of the Unesco site of Palermo

2023

In the context of conservation and dissemination of cultural heritage, noninvasive technologies for the generation of digital models have produced exponential growth in the quality of the data acquired. The digital contents processed allow the use of architectural contexts that no longer exist or sites that are di cult to access, thanks to the visualisation of high-resolution and immersive products. However, the process from acquisition to visualisation requires optimisation strategies and specific operational choices, depending on the design goals. The study describes some results of a broader research within the iHERITAGE Project funded by the ENI CBC MED Program 2014-2020, critically des…

Una Comunità di Chatbot per i Beni Culturali

2005

Hydrogeological hazards and weather events: Triggering and evolution of shallow landslides

2014

Abstract Landslides are the most intense and serious manifestations of the degradation of slopes and they are the main causes of geological hazard when they, directly or indirectly, involving towns and infrastructures. They are a global environment problem; there are several examples that have produced untold damages and loss of human lives in many parts of the world. In 1920 the landslides mobilization, as a result of a strong earthquake in China, in the province of Kansu, killed 200,000 people; in 1938 fast debris flow, triggered by heavy rainfalls in Japan, caused the death of 600 people; in 1963 in Italy the Vajont disaster caused the death of 1,899 people, as a result of a landslide lo…

Disegni per interpretare le trasformazioni delle torri della costiera amalfitana

2020

The fascinating nature of the Amalfi coast is the background for territories full of history and places of immense value. Starting from some of the main representations of the Salerno territory, it was possible to retrace the main evolutionary phases of the city and then focus on what is a ‘product’ of the events that have taken place over time, the Cetara Tower. The research and iconographic documentation, in fact, have made possible to highlight some of the transformations and superfetations that the tower, in the homonymous city, has undergone during the years; up to assume the current conformation

Impact de la proximité identitaire « publics-musée d'art » sur la fréquentation des lieux culturels : le cas des musées d’art

2017

The value that individuals attach to a cultural object can be explained, among other things, by their identity project of belonging to a group. This thesis proposes new strategic orientations for museums that increase museum attendance, change the relationship of the art museum with the public and attract other individuals. This research allowed the conceptualization of the proximity of the "public-art museum" identity, the confirmation of its dimensions and antecedents, and finally the analysis of the relationship between the "public-art museum" identity proximity and the art museum attendance. Moreover, the development of a "public-art museum" identity proximity scale, offers to broaden th…

The value that individuals attach to a cultural object can be explained, among other things, by their individual identity project or belonging to a group. Image Education and Didactics of Cultural Heritage. Graphic and Creative Workshops Within the Project “La Scuola Adotta La Città”

2023

Within the Laboratories of Drawing and Image Education activated by the Degree Courses in Educational Sciences of the Palermo University -and connected to the internships of future teachers-, various laboratory activities have been carried out over the years, with an integration between Museum Didactics, Didactics of the Cultural Heritage of the Territory and a creative approach to the artistic masterpiece. The students, under the supervision of the university tutors, were invited to propose, within the classes in which they were placed as trainee teachers, projects of workshop activities in which to experiment, in addition to the graphic learning of the work performed with creative re-appr…

From Cnidarian immunobiology to cultural heritage applications

2016

The study of cnidarians immunity, as model systems of metazoans, lead additional informations on the first steps of the immunity evolution. The functions of the genes and cellular pathways in higher vertebrates are conserved during the evolution of metazoans, as shown by the discovery of homologues in cnidarians. These basal metazoans in fact, are far from "simples" in the range of methods at their disposal to deal with potential prey but also invading microbes and pathogens. They can give informations about the invertebrates innate immune repertoire. We investigated the immunobiology starting from the inflammatory response in Anemonia sulcata (Cnidaria: Anthozoa) following injection of sub…

AUGMENTED REALITY. PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE.

2013

The access to information is a right and a duty. An accessible website becomes a universal resource for all people who surf the net, it becomes a powerful tool to spread its message and its information with the conscious and the knowledge that the information will come to anyone who wants to access it. The innovative technologies of graphic communication (ICT) are the means to allow this cultural diffusion. In this paper the goal is to demonstrate that a conscious use of ICT allows the accessibility of the cultural heritage. The case study is on the prisons of the Inquisition in Palermo. A great opportunity has permitted to carry out a cultural, historical, architectural and social research…
