The Effect of Consumer Local Engagement and Personal Values to Local Store Patronage

2016

The question of why customers patronize small stores is important to academics and practitioners alike, but the perspective of rural and local retail patronage is understudied and underdeveloped (Pan and Zinkhan 2006; Brown and Dant 2006; Runyan and Droge 2008). Also, store patronage from the standpoint of local communities seems to have been only little investigated (Runyan and Droke 2008).

Compliance of IEEE 802.22 WRAN for field area network in smart grid

2016

Distributed power system network is going to be complex, and it will require high-speed, reliable and secure communication systems for managing intermittent generation with coordination of centralised power generation, including load control. Cognitive Radio (CR) is highly favourable for providing communications in Smart Grid by using spectrum resources opportunistically. The IEEE 802.22 Wireless Regional Area Network (WRAN) having the capabilities of CR use vacant channels opportunistically in the frequency range of 54 MHz to 862 MHz occupied by TV band. A comprehensive review of using IEEE 802.22 for Field Area Network in power system network using spectrum sensing (CR based communication…

THE IMPACT OF VISUAL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT ON DECISION-MAKING IN THE ENTREPRENEURIAL PROCESS

2018

Effective decision-making is critical for entrepreneurial success due to constantly changing customer needs. Research has indicated that visual performance management approaches have the potential to improve decision-making during operations in established firms. However, how visual performance management may affect decision-making during the entrepreneurial process has not yet been adequately addressed in the extant research literature. To contribute in filling this knowledge gap, a visual performance management tool called Obeya was adapted and utilised during an entrepreneurial process, and its impact on decision-making during the process was qualitatively explored. The findings indicat…

Supporting Small Medium Enterprises planning through the use of a step-by-step System Dynamics model building process

2011

This paper aims to support small medium enterprises (SMEs) in business planning through the use of system dynamics models. In particular, it has been hypothesized that through the use of a step-by-step system dynamics model building process SMEs’ entrepreneurs can better understand the net of cause-and-effect relationships underlying company financial and non-financial results. Such an approach also enables decision makers to improve their understanding about the figures portrayed in a balance sheet. In order to reach such a goal, this study has been carried out through the use of a case-study. The small company investigated is a leather handcraft operating in Indonesia. The paper makes e…

Stakeholder engagement toward value co-creation in the F&B packaging industry

2019

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore how a food and beverage packaging company manages internal and external stakeholders to achieve sustainable innovation outcomes, as well as to contribute to the spread of sustainability paths along the supply chain, on which it operates. Design/methodology/approach A case study approach was chosen and applied multiple methods of semi-structured interviews and a documentation review. Findings Results reveal a structured stakeholder relationship management, according to which the packaging company acts through a stakeholder engagement process to both acquire and share new knowledge to address stakeholder pressure. Co-creation models result in a…

Product Meaning, Affective Use Evaluation, and Transfer:

2005

The first part of this investigation explored the multidimensional nature of product meaning, referring to the variety of connotations and functions a consumer associates with a particular product category. The subsequent experiment examined the moderation effects of product meaning and other attributes of the user on (a) the affective evaluation of an obstructed use interaction, and (b) the transfer of emotion between devices presented as being either of the same or a different brand. Although the failure experience essentially caused frustration, this reaction varied substantially among consumers depending on product meaning, age, and gender. The results also showed that the emotion dimen…

Capability studies, helpful tools in process quality improvement

2017

Ability of processes to meet customer’quality requirements has become essential for providing competitive advantages such as cost savings, reducing the number of nonconfoming products or increasing customer satisfaction. This paper aims to conduct a capability study for a swaging process (that ensures an assembly dimension) of a key product characteristic (the outer diameter of a new part), related to the concept of capability and performance indices and how these metrics can be used and interpreted to become powerful tools for decision making. To achieve the goal of the paper, the following key aspects were analyzed: capability of the measurement system capability (gage R&R), production eq…

Convolutional Matrix Factorization for Recommendation Explanation

2018

In this paper, we introduce a novel recommendation model, which harnesses a convolutional neural network to mine meaningful information from customer reviews, and integrates it with matrix factorization algorithm seamlessly. It is a valid method to improve the transparency of CF algorithms.
