Catalytic Enantioselective Aza-Reformatsky Reaction with Cyclic Imines
2016
A catalytic highly enantioselective aza-Reformatsky reaction with cyclic aldimines and ketimines for the synthesis of chiral b-amino esters with good yields and excellent enantioselectivities is reported.Areadily available diaryl prolinol is used as a chiral ligand, ZnMe2 as a zinc source and ethyl iodoacetate as reagent in the presence of air atmosphere. The reaction with cyclic ketimines generates a quaternary stereocenter with excellent levels of enantioselectivity. Furthermore, five-membered N-sulfonyl ketimines were used as electrophiles with good enantiomeric excesses, under the optimized reaction conditions. Moreover, several chemical transformations were performed with the chiral b-…
Theoretical characterization of iron and manganese porphyrins for catalyzed saturated alkane hydroxylations
1997
Abstract The theoretical characterization of porphin (H2Por), iron and manganese porphyrins MIII(Por) and their chlorine derivatives MIII(Por)Cl has been carried out. This work represents a first step for modelling catalyzed saturated alkane hydroxylations. The chlorine atom is responsible for the existence of a dipole moment of 1.2–2.0 D in the MIII(Por)Cl molecules and for a negative value of the mean quadrupole moment (−16–(−14)DA). The charge of the metal atom (1.8–2.2 e) is rather varied (to 2.1–2.6 e) and the effective polarizability (2.8–2.9 A3) is increased (to 3.5–3.6 A3) by the addition of the chlorine atom. Starting from the porphin molecule, the presence of the metal atom decrea…
A multifunctional bioconjugate module for versatile photoaffinity labeling and click chemistry of RNA
2011
A multifunctional reagent based on a coumarin scaffold was developed for derivatization of naive RNA. The alkylating agent N3BC [7-azido-4-(bromomethyl)coumarin], obtained by Pechmann condensation, is selective for uridine. N3BC and its RNA conjugates are pre-fluorophores which permits controlled modular and stepwise RNA derivatization. The success of RNA alkylation by N3BC can be monitored by photolysis of the azido moiety, which generates a coumarin fluorophore that can be excited with UV light of 320 nm. The azidocoumarin-modified RNA can be flexibly employed in structure-function studies. Versatile applications include direct use in photo-crosslinking studies to cognate proteins, as dem…
Novel 3-Azaindolyl-4-arylmaleimides Exhibiting Potent Antiangiogenic Efficacy, Protein Kinase Inhibition, and Antiproliferative Activity
2012
Tumor growth and metastasis are highly associated with the overexpression of protein kinases (PKs) regulating cell growth, apoptosis resistance, and prolonged cell survival. This study describes novel azaindolyl-maleimides with significant inhibition of PKs, such as VEGFR, FLT-3, and GSK-3β which are related to carcinogenesis. Furthermore, these compounds exhibit high kinase selectivity and potent inhibition of angiogenesis and cell proliferation, offering versatile options in cancer treatment strategies.
Polyfunctional recognition of pyridinedicarboxylate anions with macrocyclic polyamine receptors containing heteroaromatic groups.
2008
The interaction of the biologically relevant anions deriving from the six pyridinedicarboxylic acids (H2PDC) with two macrocyclic receptors containing a pentamine chain and a bipyridine (1) or a phenanthroline (2) moiety, as well as with the aliphatic analogue [21]aneN7 (3), was studied by means of spectroscopic methods (UV-vis, NMR) and potentiometric titrations affording the stability constants of the adducts formed. All three receptors form stable complexes with the substrates thanks to the formation of several salt bridges and hydrogen bond contacts, as observed in the crystal structure of the H8[3(2,6-PDC)4] x H2O x 0.5 EtOH solid compound. Additional pi-stacking interactions between t…
Radioactively labelled epoxides. part V. Tritium labelled K-region oxides and trans-dihydrodiols of pyrene, benzo[a]pyrene and dibenz[a, h]anthracene
1987
Tritium labelled K-region oxides of pyrene, benzo[a]pyrene and dibenz[a,h]anthracene have been prepared by cyclization of the corresponding trans-dihydrodiols which were obtained by reduction of K-region quinones with sodium borotritide in the presence of oxygen. This synthetic pathway not only yields two metabolically important radioactively labelled derivatives of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in a simple and efficient manner, but also requires a rather inexpensive source of tritium.
Electronic Interactions in a New π-Extended Tetrathiafulvalene Dimer
2006
The first pi-extended tetrathiafulvalene (exTTF) dimer in which the two exTTF units are covalently connected by 1,3-dithiole rings has been obtained in a multistep synthetic procedure involving the Ullmann cross-coupling reaction by using copper(I) thiophene-2-carboxylate (CuTC). The electronic spectrum reveals a significant electronic interaction between the exTTF units. The electrochemical study carried out by cyclic voltammetry in solution and in thin-layer conditions, and the electrochemical simulation and spectroelectrochemical (SEC) measurements confirm the electronic communication and show that the oxidation of dimer 14 occurs as two consecutive 2 e(-) processes D(0)-D(0)-->D(2+)-D(0…
The Nonvolatile and Volatile Metabolites of Prangos ferulacea and Their Biological Properties
2019
Abstract Prangos ferulacea (L.) Lindl. (Fam. Apiaceae), an orophilous species of eastern Mediterranean and western Asia, possesses a number of biological properties that are worthy of exploitation in different fields. Phytochemical investigations revealed the presence of coumarins, prenyl-coumarins, and furano-coumarins as the main constituents of this species, as well as several flavonoids. Among prenyl-coumarins, osthol is a promising apoptotic agent quite selective toward cancer cells. In addition, the essential oils have been extensively investigated, and several chemotypes have been identified. This work reviews the literature on this species published between 1965 and 2018, describes …
Genome analysis of enterobacteriaceae with non-wild type susceptibility to third-generation cephalosporins recovered from diseased dogs and cats in E…
2020
Extended-spectrum-β-lactamases (ESBL) and plasmid-mediated cephalosporinases (pAmpC)-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates are now reported worldwide in humans, animals, and in the environment. We identified the determinants of resistance to β-lactams and associated resistance genes as well as phylogenetic diversity of 53 ESBL- or pAmpC-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolated from dogs and cats in Europe.Of a collection of 842 Enterobacteriaceae isolates that were recovered in 2013 and 2014 from 842 diseased and untreated dogs and cats, for 242 ampicillin or amoxicillin resistant isolates (MIC ≥ 16 mg/L), cefotaxime (CTX) and ceftazidime (CAZ) MICs were determined. Isolates with CTX and/or CA…
