It has been suggested that prenatal exposure to some organochlorine compounds (OCs) may adversely affect thyroid function and may, therefore, impair neurodevelopment. Calorimetric investigation of water/lecithin/cyclohexane microemulsions

The enthalpies of dilution of water/lecithin/cyclohexane microemulsion-gels at variousR values (R=[water]/[lecithin]) and molar enthalpies of solution of water in lecithin/cyclohexane at a fixed lecithin concentration were determined calorimetrically at 25°C. Through a description of the process of dilution of water/lecithin/cyclohexane microemulsion-gels as one involving mainly the scission of lecithin reversed micelles in to smaller ones, the concentration dependence of the enthalpy was rationalized. Background: Cannabinoids are known to reduce intestinal inflammation. Atypical cannabinoids produce pharmacological effects via unidentified targets. We were interested in whether the atypical cannabinoid O-1602, reportedly an agonist of the putative cannabinoid receptor GPR55, reduces disease severity of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) and trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis in C57BL/6N and CD1 mice. Bioactivity of essential oils in phytopathogenic and post-harvest fungi control

[EN] Commercial thyme and lavender essential oils were analysed by GC/MS. Sixty-six compounds accounting for 98.6¿99.6% of total essential oil were identified. Thymol (52.14 ± 0.21%), followed by pcymene (32.24 ± 0.16%), carvacrol (3.71 ± 0.01%) and ¿-terpinene (3.34 ± 0.02%), were the main compounds in thyme essential oil, while large amounts of oxygenated monoterpenes linalool acetate (37.07 ± 0.24%) and linalool (30.16 ± 0.06%) were found in lavender one. The electrochemical properties of Y zeolite-associated MnIII(salen)N3 (salen = trans-(R,R)-1,2-bis(salicyldeneamino)cyclohexane) has been investigated using polymer film electrodes immersed into neutral aqueous solutions. Zeolite Y-associated Mn(III)−salen complexes are reduced in one-electron reversible process at −0.25 V versus SCE. Abstract Natural rubber can be brominated in dilute cyclohexane solution, whereby the molecular weight, corresponding to the bromine content, increases. For brominated rubber, increasing bromine content makes cyclohexane an increasingly poorer solvent, which is shown by a contraction of the molecule coils and a decrease in the second virial coefficient. Quantitative results were obtained through viscosity and light scattering measurements. Cyclohexane solutions of brominated rubber containing about 43% bromine have a θ point at room temperature.
