Palladium-Catalyzed Skeletal Rearrangement of Spirotricyclic Olefins: A Facile One-Pot Strategy for the Synthesis of a Novel Motif with Cyclopentene …
2013
The first utilization of acyclic cyclopropane bearing spirocyclic olefines for the generation of stereospecific complex fused ring systems with an achiral catalyst is reported.
Fluorine-Containing Functionalized Cyclopentene Scaffolds Through Ring Contraction and Deoxofluorination of Various Substituted Cyclohexenes
2018
A DFT study of the role of the Lewis acid catalysts in the [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of the electrophilic nitrone isomer of methyl glyoxylate ox…
2015
The molecular mechanism and stereoselectivity of the BF3 Lewis acid catalyzed [3 + 2] cycloaddition (32CA) reaction between C-methoxycarbonyl nitrone and cyclopentene has been theoretically studied using DFT methods at the MPWB1K/6-31G(d) computational level. The BF3 catalyst accelerates the 32CA reaction by decreasing the activation energy leading to the formation of the trans cycloadduct as the kinetic product, in agreement with the experimental data. Inclusion of solvent effects slightly increases the activation energy and decreases the exothermic character of the 32CA reaction as a consequence of a better solvation of nitrone than the transition state and the cycloadduct. The use of the…
Hantzsch Ester-Mediated Photochemical Transformations in the Ketone Series: Remote C(sp3)–H Arylation and Cyclopentene Synthesis through Strain Relea…
2021
A metal-free Hantzsch ester-mediated synthesis of cyclopentenylketones as well as γ-hetarylketones starting from ketocyclopropanes under eco-friendly conditions was developed. The versatility of the developed conditions is shown by reacting ketocyclopropanes in both a formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition with terminal alkynes (further investigated using theoretical calculations) and a radical C-C-coupling with cyanopyridines. The newly developed methodologies were later on utilized as a downstream reaction for photogenerated cyclopropanes combining UV and visible light photochemistry. Following this procedure, a UV-driven Norrish-Yang-type reaction induces the ring strain of the intermediates, whic…
Synthesis of novel isoxazoline-fused cispentacin stereoisomers
2009
Abstract New isoxazoline-fused cispentacins were prepared by the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides to β-amino esters containing a cyclopentene skeleton. This synthetic procedure gave regio- and diastereoisomers of the cispentacins. The synthetic route was extended to the synthesis of these compounds in enantiomerically pure form.
Thermal Rearrangements of Perchlorohexatrienes-Structures and Experimental and Theoretical Evaluation of Pathways to Isomerization and Cyclization
2009
We have prepared trans- (1) and cis-octachloro-1,3,5-hexatriene (2) by known routes and studied their thermal behavior experimentally and theoretically by ab initio calculations. The three double bonds in 1 and 2 are completely decoupled due to steric hindrance by the eight Cls, as indicated by calculations as well as the single-crystal X-ray structure of 1. The cis isomer 2 can be isomerized to the trans isomer 1 by heating it to 220–250 °C either neat or dissolved in high-boiling solvents, leading to a roughly 2:1 mixture of trans and cis isomers. Calculations at several different levels of theory predict 1 and 2 to be isoenergetic within 2 kJ mol–1. Unimolecular cis/trans isomerization i…
Rhodium catalyzed oxidative coupling of salicylaldehydes with diazabicyclic olefins: a one pot strategy involving aldehyde C–H cleavage and π-allyl c…
2013
An efficient one pot strategy for the synthesis of cyclopentene fused chromanone derivatives through the direct oxidative coupling of salicylaldehydes with bicyclic olefins in the presence of a rhodium-copper catalyst system is described. This is the first report on the ring opening-ring closing of bicyclic hydrazines via metal catalyzed oxidative coupling reaction.
