Sudeckie linie życia. O "Grandhotelu" Jaroslava Rudiša
2012
Powieść Grandhotel to utwór czeskiego pisarza młodego pokolenia Jaroslava Rudiša. Portrety i losy bohaterów powieściowych zostały wpisane przez Rudiša w dwudziestowieczną historię Liberca i sudeckich okolic. Stworzenie postaci Fleischmana – głównego bohatera powieści, o skomplikowanej osobowości i tożsamości – posłużyło pisarzowi w próbie zdiagnozowania zbiorowego ducha współczesnych Czechów. Z powieściowego świata Grandhotelu wyłaniają się dwa zasadnicze wymiary: egzystencjalny z całą galerią indywidualności poszukujących swojego miejsca na ziemi, z ich pogmatwanymi „liniami życia” i osobistymi dramatami; oraz zbiorowy, historyczno-społeczno-kulturowy, wypełniony skomplikowanymi dwudziesto…

Using methodology of word-formation nests, two aspects of these words were analyzed: 1) abstract word-forming paradigm, 2) aword-forming chain. The analysis showed that in both languages onomatopoeic verbs quite regularly will derive verbs naming the result of the action and the verbs expressing intensity or weakening of the action. In Czech language there are also verbs naming completion of the action, verbs accentuating the beginning of the acti…

"Kouzlo dálky" i "mechanismus kaváren a vináren" - uwagi o (nie)pamięci w korespondencji Jana Zahradníčka z Františkiem Halasem
2021
The article analyses letters exchanged in the years 1930 to 1949 between two outstanding Czech poets - Jan Zahradníček and František Halas. Despite their contrary views (Zahradníček was perceived as an ardent Catholic, while Hałas – as holding rather left-wing worldviews), their written communication is a testimony of their friendship which lasted for two decades. However, in the letters there are also expressed, especially in the final stage of their correspondence, numerous radical judgments of the thickening atmosphere (years of the war and Soviet domination) surrounding both artists as well as mutual assessments of their social and ethical attitudes. Their correspondence can be also vie…
Hipster, preppy, girly... À propos des néologismes liés à la mode et de leur circulation en français et en tchèque
2018
The globalization, accelerating the language contact, facilitates greatly the circulation of neological expressions in unrelated languages. One of the areas with a significantly higher occurrence of neologisms is that of fashion and style. New words such as hipster, preppy and girly spread quickly in the Anglo-American culture and also invade the languages that this culture is in contact with, including French and Czech. Since this lexical field has not been studied in a comparative way, we decided to describe certain words related to the style in the two respective languages. Using a corpus based on our own knowledge of the topic and on the lexis found in the press, we try to describe the …

The aim of this study is to analyze the neological borrowings from English that occur in contemporary French and Czech. Special emphasis is placed on neological borrowings with the -ing suffix. After a quantitative analysis of the respective diffusion and productivity in both languages, we focus on a few specific words (phishing, géocaching, sharing, washing), attested in both languages, and compare their integration from several perspectives (phonological, orthographical, morphological, semantic and local va…
