Autorka w swoim artykule przedstawia pole semantyczne barw w najważniejszym dziele czeskiego romantyzmu Máj, napisanym przez Karla Hynka Máchę. Klasyfikuje ona nazwy kolorów według części mowy: rzeczowniki, przymiotniki, przysłówki i czasowniki z uwzględnieniem pasm tęczy (wyrazy nazywające kolory wprost i pośrednio). Ponadto podaje listę leksemów, które wyrażają intensywność nasycenia światła i efekt mroku. The article is a contrastive analysis of twenty two Czech and Polish onomatopoeic verbs from translations of J. K. Rowling’s book: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The main source of data was Ćesky narodnf korpus - Korpus InterCorp v. 9. The starting point was locating the presence of examples of onomatopoeia separately in each translation and then verifying if their presence is motivated by onomatopoeia in the original text or not - usually it was. FACES OF AUTOCRACY IN CZECH LITERARY DYSTOPIASThe paper deals with the phenomenon of dystopia in Czech literature before 1989. The main aim of the article is to present some similiar views on totalitarian power and its influence on the individual in Czech novels and short stories: Datum narození nula by Ludmila Freiová, Poselství pro Agla Mathona by Ondřej Neff, Utopie, nejlepší verze by Ivan Kmínek and Maso by Martin Harníček. The purpose of the paper was also to show how in the authors’ visions of autocratic states, administration is taking control over ordinary people and what kind of tools it uses to manipulate them: terror, self-censorship or various addictions.

New re-bordering left them alone and neglected: Czech cross-border commuters in German-Czech borderland

The article focuses on the impact of the new re-bordering, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, on the functional, ideational and institutional dimension of cross-border integration, as perceived by the Czech cross-border commuters employed on the German side of the Euroregion Elbe Labe. The interviews with forty cross-commuters showed that they were left alone in these times of re-bordering and became victims of non-coordination between Czechia and Germany. Abstract Background We assessed the 10-year efficacy, immunogenicity and safety of two doses of a combined measles-mumps-rubella-varicella vaccine (MMRV) or one dose of a monovalent varicella vaccine (V) in children from Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Methods This was a phase IIIB follow-up of an observer-blind, randomized, controlled trial (NCT00226499). The author discusses two examples of writing in a language different from writers’ mother tongue: Jan Novak i Tomasz Jedrowski. A novel by Novak Million Dollar Kit never was published in English and is available for Czech readers in translation only. Debut novel by Jedrowski Swimming in the Dark was written in English for an English audience. The main subject of the article is to analyse possible motivations that led the writers to a decision of writing in their second language using contemporary linguistic and cognitivist theories.
