Image processing applications in object detection and graph matching : from Matlab development to GPU framework

2020

Automatically finding correspondences between object features in images is of main interest for several applications, as object detection and tracking, flow velocity estimation, identification, registration, and many derived tasks. In this thesis, we address feature correspondence within the general framework of graph matching optimization and with the principal aim to contribute, at a final step, to the design of new and parallel algorithms and their implementation on GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) systems. Graph matching problems can have many declinations, depending on the assumptions of the application at hand. We observed a gap between applications based on local cost objective functio…

Fusarium wilt of cyclamen : early detection and biocontrol

2016

Fusarium wilt of cyclamen is one of the most damaging diseases of cyclamen. The causal agent, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cyclaminis, is a soil-borne fungus. Losses can reach more than 50 % of the production. Several methods of control are available, but none of them offer an efficient and environmentally friendly solution. In this context, a project was developed in collaboration with the French institute of horticulture, Astredhor, which represents the producers, the INRA of Dijon, for its expertise on F. oxysporum and the company Agrene for its expertise in biological control. The project has two goals: i) design a molecular marker specific of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cyclaminis allowing …

Spatio-temporal dynamics of a small arctic hydrosystem : nivo-glaciologic approaches in a climate change context (Austre Lovén glacier, Spitsberg, 79…

2011

Leaning on long field campaigns, this thesis offer both qualitative and quantitative overview of polarregion nivo-glaciologic dynamics through a geographic approach, in context of climate change. Thiswork is part of the Hydro-sensor FlOWS program taking place during the International Polar Year.Upstream of this pluridisciplinary program aimed at understanding the hydrological processes of asmall polar hydrosystem, it was necessary to add a more specific study on the role of snow and icein the hydrological equation : this is the subject of this PhD.The glacial basin of Austre Lovénbreen (10 km2, Spitsberg – 79°N) served as a field of study in ageographical approach at local scale. Synthèse in situ de fluorophores organiques : formation de liaisons covalentes par déclenchement enzymatique et applications en biodétection

2017

Fluorescence imaging is a growing field of biology over the past decades. Intensive works mainly focused on instrumental developments and chemistry of contrast agents (probes), were already done to improve such bioanalytical technique. The main goal of this Ph. D. thesis was to explore various fluorogenic molecular platforms responsive to various (bio)chemical stimuli and capable of releasing organic fluorophores in the biological medium to analyze. This approach named "in-situsynthesis" is based on domino reactions belonging to the repertoire of "covalent chemistry", triggered by the target (bio)analyte. This kind of process should provide advanced fluorogenic probes with high signal-to-no…

Timing and patterns of the ENSO signal in Africa over the last 30 years: insights from normalized difference vegetation index data.

2014

Abstract A more complete picture of the timing and patterns of the ENSO signal during the seasonal cycle for the whole of Africa over the three last decades is provided using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Indeed, NDVI has a higher spatial resolution and is more frequently updated than in situ climate databases, and highlights the impact of ENSO on vegetation dynamics as a combined result of ENSO on rainfall, solar radiation, and temperature. The month-by-month NDVI–Niño-3.4 correlation patterns evolve as follows. From July to September, negative correlations are observed over the Sahel, the Gulf of Guinea coast, and regions from the northern Democratic Republic of Congo…

Evaluation of seven immunochromatographic assays for the rapid detection of human rotaviruses in fecal specimens

2007

International audience; Seven commercially available immunochromatographic assays were tested for the rapid detection of group A rotaviruses in fecal samples compared to a enzyme immunoassay (Argene). Detection of rotaviruses in 80 ELISA positive frozen stool samples showed rates superior to 90% for three reagents (Rota Strip (Cypress Diagnostics), 98.8%; Rotascreen (Microgen), 95.0%; VIKIA Rota/Adeno (bioMérieux), 92.5%); from 82.5% to 88.8% for three others (Diarlex with centrifugation (Orion Diagnostica), 88.8%; Combo Rota/Adeno (All Diag), 87.5%; Rota/Adeno Combi Stick (bmd), 82.5%) and only 70.0% for Diarlex with filtration vial (Orion Diagnostica). The evaluation of the specificity, p…

Primitives detection by a discrete and non linear approach : application to the detection and caracterization of interest points for 3D meshes

2010

This manuscript is dedicated to the detection and caracterization of interest points for 3D meshes. First of all, we show the limitations of the curvature measure on sharp edges, the measure usually used for the analysis of meshes. Then, we present a generalization of the SUSAN operator for meshes, named SUSAN-3D. The saliency measure proposed quantify the local variation of the surface and classify directly the analysed vertices in five classes: salient, crest, flat, valley and cavity. The meshes under consideration are manifolds and can be closed or non-closed, regulars or irregulars, dense or not and noised or not. The accuracy of the SUSAN-3D operator is compared to two curvature operat…

Thermal remote sensing from Airborne Hyperspectral Scanner data in the framework of the SPARC and SEN2FLEX projects: an overview

2009

Abstract. The AHS (Airborne Hyperspectral Scanner) instrument has 80 spectral bands covering the visible and near infrared (VNIR), short wave infrared (SWIR), mid infrared (MIR) and thermal infrared (TIR) spectral range. The instrument is operated by Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aerospacial (INTA), and it has been involved in several field campaigns since 2004. This paper presents an overview of the work performed with the AHS thermal imagery provided in the framework of the SPARC and SEN2FLEX campaigns, carried out respectively in 2004 and 2005 over an agricultural area in Spain. The data collected in both campaigns allowed for the first time the development and testing of algorithms for …

A Simple Fusion Method for Image Time Series Based on the Estimation of Image Temporal Validity

2015

High-spatial-resolution satellites usually have the constraint of a low temporal frequency, which leads to long periods without information in cloudy areas. Furthermore, low-spatial-resolution satellites have higher revisit cycles. Combining information from high- and low- spatial-resolution satellites is thought a key factor for studies that require dense time series of high-resolution images, e.g., crop monitoring. There are several fusion methods in the bibliography, but they are time-consuming and complicated to implement. Moreover, the local evaluation of the fused images is rarely analyzed. In this paper, we present a simple and fast fusion method based on a weighted average of two in…
