C 4 photosynthesis is a fascinating example of parallel evolution of a complex trait involving multiple genetic, biochemical and anatomical changes. It is seen as an adaptation to deleteriously high levels of photorespiration. The current scenario for C 4 evolution inferred from grasses is that it originated subsequent to the Oligocene decline in CO 2 levels, is promoted in open habitats, acts as a pre-adaptation to drought resistance, and, once gained, is not subsequently lost. Within the autistic spectrum, there is remarkable variability in the etiology, presentation, and treatment response. This prospective study was designed to identify, through cluster analysis, subgroups of individuals with ASD without intellectual disability (ID) based on the severity of the core symptoms in childhood. The secondary aim was to explore whether these subgroups and a group with typical development (TD) differ in cognitive, adaptive, and social aspects measured in adolescence. The sample at baseline was comprised of 52 children with ASD without ID and 37 children with TD, aged 7–11. Among the ASD group, three clusters were identified. En este trabajo, se desarrolla el concepto de adaptación cultural, particularmente se aborda la adaptación de los estudiantes extranjeros. Se plantean diferentes modelos explicativos y se comentan diferentes niveles de adaptación. Se trabaja con conceptos como aculturación y estrés por aculturación. Por último, se comentan algunas de las investigaciones que abordaron los factores que favorecen la integración del estudiante extranjero.
Psychological State after an Acute Coronary Syndrome: Impact of Physical Limitations

The aim of this study was to investigate how physical limitations after ACS influence patients’ quality of life and health perception. This was a longitudinal clinical study. We recruited 146 patients diagnosed with ACS. The patients performed a stress test (Bruce’s protocol) for the evaluation of physical limitations and were classified according to the test result: without physical limitations (more than 10 METS), with some physical limitations (7 to 9 METS), and with high physical limitations (less than 6 METS). El «Llibre de les Bèsties» (1287-1289) de Ramon Llull: anàlisi d'adaptacions infantils i juvenils

En aquest article presentem una anàlisi de les sis adaptacions que del Llibre de les Bèsties (1287- 1289) es van publicar per al públic infantil i juvenil amb motiu de l’Any Llull (2015-2016). Després de presentar la figura de Ramon Llull com a escriptor de referència en l’època medieval i de situar Llibre de les Bèsties dins de la producció literària de Llull, analitzem els paratextos extratextuals i textuals de les sis adaptacions aquí estudiades. La presentació i l’anàlisi d’aquests paratextos ens permet determinar, d’una banda, a quin tipus de nivell lector va adreçada cada adaptació i quin treball didàctic en pot resultar; i, d’altra banda, com el missatge que Llull transmet en aquesta…
