Abstract Cytotoxic effects of aldicarb, its sulfone and sulfoxide, and propoxur, lipid peroxidation and antioxidant parameters in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO-K1) cells were determined. d , l -buthionine-( S , R )-sulfoximine (BSO) was assayed to determine the role of GSH in the protection against carbamate cytotoxicity. Pre-treatment with 60 μM BSO, induced a significant decrease in the glutathione reductase (GR; 64–141%), the glutathione peroxidase (GPx; 10–30%) and the glutathione S-transferase (GST; 59–93%) activities, and its GSH levels (79–85%), while the oxidized glutathione (GSSG) levels significantly increased (64–78%) respect to experiment non-BSO-pretreated. Abstract The effect of four carbamates, aldicarb and its metabolites (aldicarb sulfone and aldicarb sulfoxide) and propoxur on glutathione content and the activity of the enzymes involved in the sulfur-redox cycle in the mammalian cellular model CHO-K1 cells after 24-h exposure were determined. Carbamate exposure resulted in a depletion of intracellular reduced glutathione (GSH) content, no change was observed in oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and a decrease in GSH/GSSG ratio was detected. Abstract Vip3 proteins have been described to be secreted by Bacillus thuringiensis during the vegetative growth phase and to display a broad insecticidal spectrum against lepidopteran larvae. Vip3Aa protoxin has been reported to be significantly more toxic to Spodoptera frugiperda than to Spodoptera exigua and differences in the midgut processing have been proposed to be responsible. Tribolium castaneum Apolipophorin-III acts as an immune response protein against Bacillus thuringiensis Cry3Ba toxic activity

In this study, a 2.1-fold Apolipophorin-III mRNA up-regulation was found in Tribolium castaneum larvae challenged with Bacillus thuringiensis Cry3Ba spore-crystal mixture. Knockdown of Apolipophorin-III by RNAi resulted in increased T. castaneum larvae susceptibility following Cry3Ba spore-crystal treatment, demonstrating Apolipophorin-III involvement in insect defense against B. thuringiensis. La relación entre droga y delincuencia hace que Instituciones Penitenciarias se con¬centren numerosas personas con antecedentes de uso de droga inyectadas (UDIs), principal práctica de riesgo para transmisión de la infección. Esta misma concentra¬ción sin embargo es una buena oportunidad de intervención terapéutica. En este trabajo se expone la situación de la infección por VlH/Sida en lnstituciones Penitenciarias(evolución y tratamiento) y los principales Programas que se aplican en la actualidad en beneficio de una prevención de la enfermedad, fundamentalmente dirigidos a la educación sexual y deshabituación del consumo de drogas, dentro del objetivo general de disminución de riesgos.
Historical memory and forgetting in the teaching of history : the case of Japan and Italy

En el presente artículo, se revisan algunas investigaciones y publicaciones relevantes donde se analizan aspectos vinculados con la inclusión de la memoria en la enseñanza de la historia (en los casos de Italia y, en mayor medida, Japón) y la conexión existente entre política y gestión de la memoria. Distinctive and comparative places: Alternative narratives of distinction within international student mobility

Moving beyond the ‘world-class’ institutional model of international student mobility, this paper examines alternative narratives of distinction relating to place of study. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with international students at universities in the UK, Austria and Latvia, we illustrate how students inside and outside mainstream reputable higher education institutions narrate and reconfigure markers of distinction to validate their international mobility and location of study, in part to compete with peers at other (more prestigious) institutions. Integrēta mācību satura un valodas apguve (CLIL) kļūst arvien vairāk izmantota vispārizglītojošās skolās visā Eiropā. Arodskolās Latvijā ir nepieciešams uzlabot izglītības ieguves procesu un šī metode varētu būt risinājums. Šajā diplomdarbā apskatīts kā izveidot kritērijus materiālu izstrādei, lai sekmētu integrēta mācību satura un valodas apguvi arodskolā. Darbā iekļauti izstrādātie integrēta mācību satura un valodas apguves materiāli, kuri izstrādāti, lai izmantotu angļu valodas un mārketinga mācīšanai arodskolā.
