Multiphysical Modeling of Transport Phenomena During Laser Welding of Dissimilar Steels

2016

Abstract The success of new high-strength steels allows attaining equivalent performances with lower thicknesses and significant weight reduction. The welding of new couples of steel grades requires development and control of joining processes. Thanks to high precision and good flexibility, laser welding became one of the most used processes for joining of dissimilar welded blanks. The prediction of the local chemical composition in the weld formed between dissimilar steels in function of the welding parameters is essential because the dilution rate and the distribution of alloying elements in the melted zone determines the final tensile strength of the weld. The goal of the present study i…

9,10-Phenanthrenedione as Visible-Light Photoredox Catalyst: A Green Methodology for the Functionalization of 3,4-Dihydro-1,4-Benzoxazin-2- Ones thro…

2018

A visible-light photoredox functionalization of 3,4-dihydro-1,4-benzoxazin-2-ones through a Friedel-Crafts reaction with indoles using an inexpensive organophotoredox catalyst is described. The reaction uses a dual catalytic system that is formed by a photocatalyst simple and cheap, 9,10-phenanthrenedione, and a Lewis acid, Zn(OTf)2. 5W white LEDs are used as visible-light source and oxygen from air as a terminal oxidant, obtaining the corresponding products with good yields. The reaction can be extended to other electron-rich arenes. Our methodology represents one of the most valuable and sustainable approach for the functionalization of 3,4-dihydro-1,4-benzoxazin-2-ones, as compared to th…

Spin crossover (SCO) iron(II) coordination polymer chain: Synthesis, structural and magnetic characterizations of [Fe(abpt)2(μ-M(CN)4)] (M=PtII and N…

2013

Abstract New iron(II) coordination polymeric neutral chain of formula [Fe(abpt) 2 (μ-M(CN) 4 )], with M = Pt II ( 1 ), Ni II ( 2 ) and abpt = 4-amino-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole, have been synthesized and characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The two compounds are isostructural as deduced from a Rietveld analysis of X-ray powder diffraction data of 2 simulated from the single crystal structure of 1 . The crystal packing of 1 is formed by regular chains running along the crystallographic [−1 0 1] direction where the planar [Pt(CN) 4 ] 2− anion acts as a μ 2 -bridging ligand via two nitrogen atoms of two different trans cyano groups, whi…

A comparative study of methanol carbonation on unsupported SnO2 and ZrO2

2009

International audience; The aim of this work was to explore the catalytic properties of SnO2 in the coupling of methanol with carbon dioxide to afford dimethyl carbonate. SnO2 nanopowders were produced by hydrolysis of tin tetra-tert-butoxide dissolved in n-butanol. The samples were much more active than a commercial one due to their higher surface areas. In addition, they exhibited excellent recyclability. However, comparison with ZrO2, prepared and tested under the same experimental conditions, showed that zirconia-based catalysts were more selective and are, among the heterogeneous catalysts already reported, still the more selective. SnO2 also catalyzed the formation of dimethyl ether l…

Direct Difluorination–Hydroxylation, Trifluorination, and C(sp2)–H Fluorination of Enamides

2018

A direct double functionalization involving both difluorination and hydroxylation of enamides is reported. With the appropriate combination of an electrophilic fluorinating reagent and H2O, the most convenient and ecofriendly hydroxylating agent, the preparation of 3-(difluoroalkyl)-3-hydroxyisoindolin-1-ones was achieved under basic or Bronsted acidic conditions. Suitable conditions for trifluorination as well as C(sp2)–H fluorination were also identified. Subsequent asymmetric functionalization of the obtained gem-difluorinated products has also been demonstrated.

Copper-Catalyzed Aerobic Oxidative Alkynylation of 3,4-Dihydroquinoxalin-2-ones

2019

Herein, we described a ligand-free copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative functionalization of 3,4-dihydroquinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with terminal alkynes using visible-light and oxygen as terminal oxidant to give 3-ethynyl-3,4-dihydroquinoxalin-2(1H)-one, cyclic propargylic amines, in moderate to good yields. Moreover, we demonstrate the versatility of the 3-ethynyl-3,4-dihydroquinoxalin-2(1H)-ones obtained by preparing several 3,4-dihydroquinoxalin-2-one derivatives.

Long-term changes of the ice regime of rivers in Latvia

2016

The ice regime of rivers is considered a sensitive indicator of climate change. This paper summarises the results of research on the long-term changes in the ice regime parameters under changing climate conditions and their regional peculiarities in Latvia from 1945 to 2012. The ice cover duration on Latvian rivers has decreased during recent decades. The research results demonstrated that there is a positive trend as regards the formation of the ice cover and in 31.8% of the cases the trend is statistically significant at p < 0.05. As regards the breaking up of ice, there is a statistically significant negative trend in 93.2% of the cases at p < 0.05. This indicates an earlie…

Global trends in NDVI-derived parameters obtained from GIMMS data

2011

The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) has been proven to be useful to assess vegetation changes around the world, in spite of limitations such as sensitivity to cloud or snow contamination. In order to map vegetation changes at global scale, this study uses NDVI time series provided by the GIMMS (Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies) group, which were fitted annually to a double logistic function. This fitting procedure allowed for retrieval of NDVI-derived parameters which were tested for trends using Mann-Kendall statistics. These trends were validated by comparison at 73 ground control points documented as change hotspots. The obtained trends for NDVI-derived paramet…

Analysis of directional effects on atmospheric correction

2013

Abstract Atmospheric correction in the Visible and Near Infrared (VNIR) spectral range of remotely sensed data is significantly simplified if we assume a Lambertian target. However, natural surfaces are anisotropic. Therefore, this assumption will introduce an error in surface directional reflectance estimates and consequently in the estimation of vegetation indexes such as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the surface albedo retrieval. In this paper we evaluate the influence of directional effects on the atmospheric correction and its impact in the NDVI and albedo estimation. First, we derived the NDVI and surface albedo from data corrected assuming a Lambertian surface…
