Optimal degradation of Ciprofloxacin in a heterogeneous Fenton-like process using (δ-FeOOH)/MWCNTs nanocomposite
2021
Abstract This study was aimed at the synthesis and characterization of ( δ -FeOOH)/MWCNTs nanocomposite as the catalyst for Ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal through a heterogeneous Fenton-like process. The proposed experimental design applies the central composite design (CCD) as a response surface methodology (RSM). The effect of influential parameters, including initial CIP concentration, catalyst dose, H 2 O2 concentration, initial pH, and reaction time on removal, were investigated. ( δ -FeOOH)/MWCNTs nanocomposite was synthesized using a single-step co-precipitation technique. Besides, nano-feroxyhyte and nanocomposite properties were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM),…
E nasciu lu Bammineddu. Testi e contesti del Natale in Sicilia
2019
Tale profonda e densa stratific…
Conservation Status of Some Peatbogs in Maramureş County
2016
AbstractPeat bogs and specially raised bogs are vulnerable ecosystems all over the world and they create refuges for some rare plant species. The aim of this paper is to provide information regarding the conservation status of five oligotrophic peat bogs situated in the volcanic mountains in the Oriental Chain of Carpathians, in Maramureș County. The studied peat bogs are: Tăul lui Dumitru (Dumitru Pond), Mlaștina Vlășinescu (Vlășinescu Peat bog), Iezeru Mare (Big Tarn), Tăul Chendroaiei (Chendroaiei Pond) and Tăul Negru (Black Pond), all of them have the status of nature reserve and under the IUCN categories they are included in category IV Habitat/Species Management Area (www.iucn.org, 20…
The evolution and changing ecology of the African hominid oral microbiome
2021
Significance The microbiome plays key roles in human health, but little is known about its evolution. We investigate the evolutionary history of the African hominid oral microbiome by analyzing dental biofilms of humans and Neanderthals spanning the past 100,000 years and comparing them with those of chimpanzees, gorillas, and howler monkeys. We identify 10 core bacterial genera that have been maintained within the human lineage and play key biofilm structural roles. However, many remain understudied and unnamed. We find major taxonomic and functional differences between the oral microbiomes of Homo and chimpanzees but a high degree of similarity between Neanderthals and modern humans, incl…
Inclusive Education Ideal at the Negotiating Table: Accounts of Educational Possibilities for Disabled Children Within Inter‐Disciplinary Team Meetin…
2008
The debate about whether to include all kinds of students in the general education classrooms is a current topic in the European and Scandinavian educational policy. This paper comes to grips with this topic by focusing on the process through which professionals define educational possibilities and risks for one group of children considered as special needs children. The study is based on the transcripts of four Finnish interdisciplinary team meetings in which professionals and parents negotiate for the school choices of preschool‐aged children with cochlear implants. Analysis of the data is based on the principles of qualitative discourse analytical methods of conversation. Results show th…
Expression of Drosophila Cabut during early embryogenesis, dorsal closure and nervous system development.
2010
cabut (cbt) encodes a transcription factor involved in Drosophila dorsal closure (DC), and it is expressed in embryonic epithelial sheets and yolk cell during this process upon activation of the Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway. Additional studies suggest that cbt may have a role in multiple developmental processes. To analyze Cbt localization through embryogenesis, we generated a Cbt specific antibody that has allowed detecting new Cbt expression patterns. Immunohistochemical analyses on syncytial embryos and S2 cells reveal that Cbt is localized on the surface of mitotic chromosomes at all mitotic phases. During DC, Cbt is expressed in the yolk cell, in epidermal cells and in…
