AbstractThis paper presents the results of a research on the representations of femicide in the judicial field, in Italy. The use of the term femicide is analysed through the lens of the normative process, examining its social meanings and questioning its political and economic anchoring using the “juridical field” model (Bourdieu 1986). The essay is based on a wide theoretical framework. Tutkielmassani käsittelen William Shakespearean näytelmän Hamlet keskeisen hahmon, Haamun, identiteettiä katolisessa ja protestanttisessa teologiassa eriävän kiirastuliopin kautta avautuvana ristiriitana. Tulkitsen Haamun hahmoa perinteistä skeptisemmästä näkökulmasta, jonka pohjalta pyrin löytämään tekstistä viitteitä siihen, että Haamun identiteetti ei missään vaiheessa ole suoraan johdettavissa siihen perinteiseen tulkintaan, jonka mukaan se olisi Hamletin isä. El presente trabajo pretende estudiar la articulación del discurso en el Communiloquium de Juan de Gales y en su traducción castellana: la Suma de collaciones o de ayuntamientos o Libro del gobernador (ms. 12181 de la BNE). Este tratado para ayuda de los predicadores se caracteriza por la hábil imbricación de diferentes fragmentos tomados de fuentes grecolatinas: sentencias, definiciones, argumentaciones, similitudines y exempla. 'Apparently, women don't know how to operate doors': a corpus-based analysis of women stereotypes in the tv series 3rd Rock from the Sun

This paper explores how women stereotypes are discursively evaluated in the TV sitcom 3 rd Rock from the Sun by paying attention to the societal, cultural and ideological values they convey. Following recent trends for the study of television series (Bednarek, 2010), the analysis is both qualitative and quantitative, adopting a Corpus- Assisted Discourse Analysis approach (Baker, 2006; Partington, 2004). The contextualised analysis of words that refer to women confirms that the sitcom writers of 3 rd Rock from the Sun purposefully resort to stereotyping as a verbal strategy to create humour while conveying negative attitudes towards women.

Martial arts and combat sports have been traditionally associated with masculinity, and a range of contradictory meanings have been attached to women’s engagement and experiences. The present study draws on cultural praxis and feminist poststructuralist frameworks to explore how female martial artists are subjectified to dominant cultural discourses surrounding fighting and competition. Interviews with nine female judoka (judo athletes) were gathered in Finland and analyzed using Foucauldian Discourse Analysis (FDA). Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt lingvistiskās iezīmes, kas raksturo tvītus. Kā pētījuma objekts tika izvēlēti politiķa ASV prezidenta Donalda Trampa tvīti. Pētījuma materiāli sastāvēja no 100 nejauši izvēlētiem tvītiem. Tika pielietotas divas pētījuma metodes – diskursa analīze un vārdu biežuma analīze. In the article, I present the content and the context of the foundation story of Wroclaw – created after 1945 in one of the largest and most destroyed cities which joined Poland after World War II (Polish Western and Northern Territories). The analyzed empirical material consists of personal documents – statements of Wroclaw residents written and submitted in 1966 for the competition entitled: “What does the city of Wrocław mean to you”.
