A methodological approach to exploring the rhythm of classroom discourse in a cumulative frame in science teaching

The purpose of this study was to characterise the nature and purpose of different types of classroom discourse and to explore how the rhythm of classroom discourse provides a cumulative frame for the teaching of science. The overall data consisted of a teaching sequence of eight lessons on the moment of force as taught to physiotherapy students at a Finnish University of Applied Sciences. Our in-depth multiple timescale analysis of two episodes illustrated in this study shows examples how cumulation was instantiated by the different types of classroom discourse. The methodology and findings of this study have implications both for teacher education and further research. peerReviewed

The present work focuses on the analysis of colloquial Italian starting from the rasgos coloquializadores (a series of conversational markers) describing the Spanish sociolinguistic research on informal contexts. After a short introduction on the rasgos, the second part of this article deals with the pattern of colloquial Italian. It may be considered a macro-variety sharing features belonging to several varieties of the Italian linguistic repertoire, further supported by the use of dialect. The discourse types with high occurrence in the public sphere of communication with the authorities are: open letter, petition, appeal, resolution of opinion, and comments in the social media (e.g. on Facebook). Heteroglossic and multimodal resources in use : participation across spaces of identification in a Christian lifestyle sports community

This dissertation examines how members of one particular youth community, Christian lifestyle sports enthusiasts in Finland, use language and other semiotic resources to construct participation in their community of practice (CoP). The CoP is organized around the late-modern activity culture of lifestyle sports. The participants also share the Christian faith and in their snowboarding camps organize Bible study sessions and engage in prayer and worship. The theoretical and methodological framework incorporates sociolinguistics, social semiotics, discourse studies and connective ethnography, including the exploration of both the digital and physical spaces of the community. Mūsdienās elektroniskais pasts ir kļuvis par plaši izmantotu komunikācijas līdzekli uzņēmumos. Pētījuma mērķis bija noteikt lietišķo e-pastu reģistra izplatītākās iezīmes Latvijas azartspēļu uzņēmuma iekšējā un ārējā komunikācijā. Pētījumā tika izmantots Baibera un Konrāda (2009) reģistra analīzes modelis individuālajam e-pastam. Pētījuma rezultāti parādīja, ka lietišķajiem e-pastiem ir gan mutvārdu, gan rakstiskās diskursa īpašības. Lietišķo e-pastu izplatītākās iezīmes ir patstāvīgie darbības vārdi, lietvārdi, modālie darbības vārdi, personu vietniekvārdi, nozarē lietoti žargonismi un saīsinājumi.
