Recent Advances on the Halo- and Cyano-Trifluoromethylation of Alkenes and Alkynes
2021
Incorporation of fluorine into organic molecules is a well-established strategy in the design of advanced materials, agrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Among numerous modern synthetic approaches, functionalization of unsaturated bonds with simultaneous addition of trifluoromethyl group along with other substituents is currently one of the most attractive methods undergoing wide-ranging development. In this review article, we discuss the most significant contributions made in this area during the last decade (2012−2021). The reactions reviewed in this work include chloro-, bromo-, iodo-, fluoro- and cyano-trifluoromethylation of alkenes and alkynes.
The social entrepreneur: Analysis of social awareness
2015
Dada…
Ratures fécondes
2012
Commenting on daily life of the scientific community, newspapers highlight some characteristics of the way sciences are evolving, thanks to a kind of epistemological flash-back : the way they lean on working hypothesis, these working hypothesis leaning themselves on on-going dogma. These comments on scientific current affairs call for a new understanding of gradual corrections of hypothesis.
34066. Pharmaceutical Chemistry I. Drug discovery and design
2019
Para la elaboración del presente documento se ha contado con la ayuda del Servei de Política Lingüística de la Universitat de València This material includes the set of slides that are used in the teaching of the group in English of Pharmaceutical Chemistry (code 34066), an annual subject taught in the third year of the Degree in Pharmacy. The content deals not only with the drugs’ origin, development and design, but also with the study of the factors to be considered as regards their action. The design of drugs originally focused mainly on simple chemical modifications of the molecules of natural origin but current design trends are based on the study of the interactions of drugs with thei…
Thermal and Mechanical Characterization of Yarn Samples from Flemish Tapestry of the Sixteenth Century
2022
We propose a physico-chemical approach for theharacterization of the conservation condition of yarns from a Flemish tapestry of the sixteenth century. The aging effect on the yarns’ performance was evaluated by comparison with commercial materials. Water uptake experiments highlighted the aptitude of yarns toward water sorption and their increased hydrophilicity upon aging. Thermogravimetric analysis can be considered a fast approach for the fiber identification and assessment on the material life-time. The dynamic mechanical analysis provided direct evidence on the yarns, conservation state and their performance under different mechanical stresses. The proposed characterization path can be…

ESR study of thianthrenium radical cation within acid zeolites
1997
Abstract Thianthrene (E ox = 1.47 V vs NHE) has been adsorbed into a series of zeolites beta (s) and ZSM-5 in the NH 4 + or H + forms, having different particle size and Si/Al ratio. The resulting population of generated thianthrenium radical cation was determined by a combination of diffuse reflectance and ESR spectroscopies. From the results obtained it can be concluded: i) the process takes predominantly place in the interior of the voids (XPS measurements and lack of influence of the particle size); ii) ZSM-5 is more efficient than zeolite s; iii) no strong acid sites are required (both NH 4 + and H + forms produced very similar spin concentrations); iv) the zeolite framework acts isola…
Prevention of 7-Ketocholesterol-Induced Overproduction of Reactive Oxygen Species, Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Cell Death with Major Nutrients (Pol…
2020
The brain, which is a cholesterol-rich organ, can be subject to oxidative stress in a variety of pathophysiological conditions, age-related diseases and some rare pathologies. This can lead to the formation of 7-ketocholesterol (7KC), a toxic derivative of cholesterol mainly produced by auto-oxidation. So, preventing the neuronal toxicity of 7KC is an important issue to avoid brain damage. As there are numerous data in favor of the prevention of neurodegeneration by the Mediterranean diet, this study aimed to evaluate the potential of a series of polyphenols (resveratrol, RSV
2014
Nitric oxide (NO) derived from the endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) has antihypertensive, antithrombotic, anti-atherosclerotic and antiobesogenic properties. Resveratrol is a polyphenol phytoalexin with multiple cardiovascular and metabolic effects. Part of the beneficial effects of resveratrol are mediated by eNOS. Resveratrol stimulates NO production from eNOS by a number of mechanisms, including upregulation of eNOS expression, stimulation of eNOS enzymatic activity and reversal of eNOS uncoupling. In addition, by reducing oxidative stress, resveratrol prevents oxidative NO inactivation by superoxide thereby enhancing NO bioavailability. Molecular pathways underlying these effects of resve…
On the potential carcinogenic and mutagenic character of benzobiphenylenes
1979
Abstract PMO estimations suggest certain partially saturated benzobiphenylene carbonium ions might exhibit carcinogenic and/or mutagenic activity.
