Integrin cytoplasmic domain and pITAM compete for spleen tyrosine kinase binding

2019

ABSTRACTIn hematopoietic tissues cell-cell communication involves immunoreceptors and specialized cell adhesion receptors that both mediate intracellular signals. Spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase involved in the downstream signaling of both immunoreceptors tyrosine activation motif (ITAM) receptors and integrin family cell adhesion receptors. Both phosphorylated ITAM (pITAM) and integrins bind to the regulatory domain of Syk composed of two Src homology 2 (SH2) domains. The interaction with pITAM is mediated by binding of a specific phosphotyrosine to each of the SH2 domains, leading to conformational changes and Syk kinase activation. Integrins bind to the int…

Complete Isochromatic Fringe-order Analysis in Digital Photoelasticity by Fourier Transform and Load Stepping

2005

:  In this paper, a new fully automated photoelastic technique based on both the Fourier transform and the envelope of the fringe centres, is presented. Using two images of the isochromatics acquired with different loads and a simple calculation routine, the method allows the user the complete determination of the isochromatic fringe retardation on any arbitrary line chosen over the model domain, without the need for supplementary external information or calibration. Various experiments have corroborated the accuracy of the method, estimated theoretically to about 0.07 fringe orders. As a result of its simplicity and sufficient accuracy, the method can be used in the industrial field also b…

Direct observation of temperature dependent magnetic domain structure of the multiferroic La0.66Sr0.34MnO3/BiFeO3 bilayer system by x-ray linear dich…

2014

Low-thickness La0.66Sr0.34MnO3 (LSMO)/BiFeO3 (BFO) thin film samples deposited on SrTiO3 were imaged by high resolution x-ray microscopy at different temperatures. The ultra-thin thickness of the top layer allows to image both the ferromagnetic domain structure of LSMO and the multiferroic domain structure of the buried BFO layer, opening a path to a direct observation of coupling at the interface on a microscopic level. By comparing the domain size and structure of the BFO and LSMO, we observed that, in contrast to LSMO single layers, LSMO/BFO multilayers show a strong temperature dependence of the ferromagnetic domain structure of the LSMO. Particularly, at 40 K, a similar domain size for…

Magnetic Domain Imaging of Thin Metallic Layers Using PEEM

2001

Photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM) in combination with resonant excitation by circularly polarized soft X-rays has proven to be a powerful analytical tool for the study of magnetic microstructures and multilayers. In this type of electron microscope the lateral intensity distribution of the emitted low-energy secondary or photoelectrons is imaged by an electron-optical system. Owing to its fast parallel image acquisition, its wide zoom range allowing fields of view from almost 1 mm down to a few µm combined with a high base-resolution of the order of 20 nm, the method offers a unique access to many aspects in surface and thin film magnetism on the mesoscopic length scale. Photoabsorption and MXCD in Photoemission Microscopy for Characterization of Advanced Materials

1999

We used imaging spectromicroscopy to characterise micro-patterned thin films of magnetic materials like FeNi alloys on Silicon. To investigate devices built from complex materials we applied element-sensitive photoelectron emission microscopy (PEEM). Information about the chemical composition of the imaged sample can be obtained by PEEM via tuning the photon energy to X-ray absorption edges. One aim of our work was to observe oxygen related defects and changes in the composition effecting the physical properties of the materials. The use of circularly polarised photons allows us to image magnetic domains by making use of the magnetic circular dichroism (MXCD).

Thermoelectric radiation detector based on a superconductor-ferromagnet junction : Calorimetric regime

2018

We study the use of a thermoelectric junction as a thermal radiation detector in the calorimetric regime, where single radiation bursts can be separated in time domain. We focus especially on the case of a large thermoelectric figure of merit $ZT$ affecting significantly for example the relevant thermal time scales. This work is motivated by the use of hybrid superconductor/ferromagnet systems in creating an unprecedentedly high low-temperature $ZT$ even exceeding unity. Besides constructing a very general noise model which takes into account cross correlations between charge and heat noise, we show how the detector signal can be efficiently multiplexed by the use of resonant LC circuits gi…

Analysis on the Time and Frequency Domains of the Acceleration in Front Crawl Stroke

2012

Analysis on the Time and Frequency Domains of the Acceleration in Front Crawl Stroke The swimming involves accelerations and decelerations in the swimmer's body. Thus, the main objective of this study is to make a temporal and frequency analysis of the acceleration in front crawl swimming, regarding the gender and the performance. The sample was composed by 31 male swimmers (15 of high-level and 16 of low-level) and 20 female swimmers (11 of high-level and 9 of low-level). The acceleration was registered from the third complete cycle during eight seconds in a 25 meters maximum velocity test. A position transducer (200Hz) was used to collect the data, and it was synchronized to an aquatic ca…

Effects of nonlinearity and substrate’s deformability on modulation instability in NKG equation

2017

International audience; This article investigates combined effects of nonlinearities and substrate's deformability on modulational instability. For that, we consider a lattice model based on the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation with an on-site potential of deformable shape. Such a consideration enables to broaden the description of energy-localization mechanisms in various physical systems. We consider the strong-coupling limit and employ semi-discrete approximation to show that nonlinear wave modulations can be described by an extended nonlinear Schrodinger equation containing a fourth-order dispersion component. The stability of modulation of carrier waves is scrutinized and the following …

Fracture Processes Observed with A Cryogenic Detector

2006

In the early stages of running of the CRESST dark matter search using sapphire detectors at very low temperature, an unexpectedly high rate of signal pulses appeared. Their origin was finally traced to fracture events in the sapphire due to the very tight clamping of the detectors. During extensive runs the energy and time of each event was recorded, providing large data sets for such phenomena. We believe this is the first time the energy release in fracture has been directly and accurately measured on a microscopic event-by-event basis. The energy threshold corresponds to the breaking of only a few hundred covalent bonds, a sensitivity some orders of magnitude greater than that of previou…

A new discretization for the polarizable continuum model within the domain decomposition paradigm

2016

International audience; We present a new algorithm to solve the polarizable continuum model equation in a framework compatible with the strategy previously developed by us for the conductor-like screening model based on Schwarz’s domain decomposition method (ddCOSMO). The new discretization is systematically improvable and is fully consistent with ddCOSMO so that it reproduces ddCOSMO results for large dielectric constants.
