Geometric Properties of Planar BV -Extension Domains

We investigate geometric properties of those planar domains that are extension for functions with bounded variation.We start from a characterization of such domains given by Burago–Maz'ya and prove that a bounded, simply connected domain is a BV -extension domain if and only if its com- plement is quasiconvex. We further prove that the extension property is a bi-Lipschitz invariant and give applications to Sobolev extension domains.

On the continuity of discrete maximal operators in Sobolev spaces

We investigate the continuity of discrete maximal operators in Sobolev space W 1;p (R n ). A counterexample is given as well as it is shown that the continuity follows under certain sucient assumptions. Especially, our research verifies that for the continuity in Sobolev spaces the role of the partition of the unity used in the construction of the maximal operator is very delicate.

Activation of TRPC6 calcium channels by diacylglycerol (DAG)-containing arachidonic acid: A comparative study with DAG-containing docosahexaenoic acid

We synthesized a diacylglycerol (DAG)-containing arachidonic acid, i.e., 1-stearoyl-2-arachidonyl-sn-glycerol (SAG), and studied its implication in the modulation of canonical transient receptor potential sub-type 6 (TRPC6) channels in stably-transfected HEK-293 cells. SAG induced the influx of Ca(2+), and also of other bivalent cations like Ba(2+) and Sr(2+), in these cells. SAG-evoked Ca(2+) influx was not due to its metabolites as inhibitors of DAG-lipase (RHC80267) and DAG-kinase (R50922) failed to inhibit the response of the same. Microscopic interactions between ivermectin and key human and viral proteins involved in SARS-CoV-2 infection

The identification of chemical compounds able to bind specific sites of the human/viral proteins involved in the SARS-CoV-2 infection cycle is a prerequisite to design effective antiviral drugs. Here we conduct a molecular dynamics study with the aim to assess the interactions of ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug with broad-spectrum antiviral activity, with the human Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2), the viral 3CLpro and PLpro proteases, and the viral SARS Unique Domain (SUD). Identification of the essential protein domains for Mib2 function during the development of the Drosophila larval musculature and adult flight muscles

The proper differentiation and maintenance of myofibers is fundamental to a functional musculature. Disruption of numerous mostly structural factors leads to perturbations of these processes. Among the limited number of known regulatory factors for these processes is Mind bomb2 (Mib2), a muscle-associated E3 ubiquitin ligase, which was previously established to be required for maintaining the integrity of larval muscles. Robot Shift from Industrial Production to Social Reproduction

This chapter analyses people’s attitudes towards the use of robots in the different domains of life and, specifically, in the domain of social reproduction. The analysis is based on Eurobarometer 382 “Public Attitudes towards Robots” data (N = 26,751), which was carried out among EU citizens aged 15 and over in 27 member states in 2012. The results of the study show that on average European perceptions of robots are positive and permissive. The life domains in which robots have already been used for a long time (e.g. space exploration, manufacturing, military and security business, search and rescue work) turn out to be the most popular areas for the further penetration of robots. In prestressed concrete structures, the evaluation of the safety level is generally carried out by separating the bending moment strength and the shear force capacity. Actually interaction between bending moment (M) and shear force (V) can have significant consequences on evaluations in service life, especially when the ultimate limit state (ULS) is considered. In box girder bridges, the quantity and distribution of reinforcement to be put in concrete elements of sections can be evaluated only by considering the deformation of the cross section in addition to the longitudinal analysis of the static scheme, establishing the entire state of stress of box sections. This leads to a need to evaluate the interaction between internal forces obtained by the global analysis and the ones obtained by the local analysis of the cross sections.
