Vivere come donne in India: l'insolito genere delle comunità hijra
2021
The study aims to investigate the history and practices that characterize hijra communities in India in order to shed light on the specific reality of these heterogeneous communities of individuals who are placed outside the heteronormative identity codes, but who have historically been included within Indian society, with very specific roles, thanks to the elaboration of the notion of tṛtīya prakṛti (third gender). However, historical events, especially since the British colonial period, have made the position of hijras increasingly marginal: the various forms of discrimination and violence, which take place within the family of origin, the health system, and society in general, were furth…

Celebracje Wielkiego Tygodnia tradycji zachodniosyryjskiej w Kościele Syromalankarskim w Indiach
2018
Holy Week constitutes the climax of the liturgical life of every Christian community. Having a common base in Jerusalem, different communities shared a common heritage in the celebrations of these special sacred times. But each liturgical family created its own special background for the celebrations. One of the interesting and yet less-known areas of cultural accommodation of the liturgy is without any doubt India, where Christianity existed from the early centuries of Christendom. In this study attention is focused on the Holy Week celebrations of the Syro-Malankara Church, which is a branch of the West-Syriac Tradition. Describing the celebrations one can affirm the truth of the ancient …
Framework for assessing lateral flows and fluxes during floods in a conduit-flow dominated karst system using an inverse diffusive model
2016
Abstract. The aim of this study is to present a framework giving new keys to characterize the spatio-temporal variability of lateral exchanges for flows and fluxes in a karst conduit network during flood events. An inverse model using an analytical solution of the diffusive wave model is applied on data from two successive gauging stations to simulate exchange dynamics after recharge. The study site is the karst conduit network of the Fourbanne aquifer in the French Jura Mountains, which includes two reaches of 5–10 km characterizing the network from sinkhole to cave stream, and to the spring. The model is applied after separation of the base and the flood components on discharge and total …
"Having a drink in a bar...!" : contextual effects on drink experience : promises of the immersive approach for studying contextual influences on foo…
2013
The overall aim of the present thesis is to study contextual influences on food behaviour (including variables coming from the environment and from the consumer). To this purpose, an immersive method using a space with physical elements was used, in order to evoke a realistic situation within a laboratory setting. Here, the method consisted in designing an immersive bar evoking the situation of “having a drink in a bar”. Two variants of the bar were created and five studies were implemented in these spaces to study how context influences food choices and evaluation. Our approach consisted in taking the product as central in the link between the consumer and the environment and not as a cont…

Robot Retrofitting by Using LinuxCNC Complemented with Arduino/RaspberryPI
2020
The use of robots for any manufacturing process is present in almost every industry nowadays. Nevertheless, automating the manufacturing process has always been a challenge for every one of them due to costs and complexity of adding this kind of automation. Acquiring robotic equipment in a concentrated market where the vendors have locked-in their clients can be expensive. In addition to this, the development of intern-factory made solutions has a very steep learning curve and it is not easily achievable. Due to these barriers small and medium size players can’t easily jump into this revolution.
