Subplate neurons and Cajal-Retzius cells play an important role in the corticogenesis. Despite morphological evidence, the question whether subplate neurons innervate Cajal-Retzius cells has not been studied yet. We report that electrical stimulation in the subplate resulted in evoked GABAergic inhibitory postsynaptic currents (eIPSCs) in Cajal-Retzius cells. The eIPSC latency showed minor variability and amounted to approximately 4 ms, suggesting the monosynaptic connection. During the first postnatal week: (i) eIPSC amplitude increased, (ii) eIPSC kinetics sped up, (iii) the size of readily releasable pool increased, and (iv) γ-aminobutyric acid release probability decreased. A prospective cohort study with a 1-year follow-up of 156 neonates was carried out specifically designed to test the hypothesis that there is a positive relationship between iron deficiency during pregnancy and the development of the same disease in newborn infants. Exposure was defined as being born of a mother with ferropenic anaemia at delivery, and cases as the infants who developed iron deficiency during their first year of life. Aim To describe the trend in the prevalence of statistical inference in three influential clinical pharmacology journals METHODS: We applied a computer-based algorithm to abstracts of three clinical pharmacology journals published in 1976 to 2016 to identify statistical inference and its subtypes. Furthermore, we manually reviewed a random sample of 300 articles to access algorithm's performance in finding statistical inference in abstracts and as a screening tool for presence and absence of statistical inference in full text. When performing a trial using an adaptive sequential design, it is usually assumed that the data for each stage come from different units; for example, patients. However, sometimes it is not possible to satisfy this condition or to check whether it is satisfied. In these cases, the test statistics and p-values of each stage may be dependent. Multivariate equivalence tests for use in pharmaceutical development.

Statistical equivalence analyses are well-established parts of many studies in the biomedical sciences. Also in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing equivalence testing methods are required in order to statistically establish similarities between machines, process components, or complete processes. This article presents a choice of multivariate equivalence testing procedures for normally distributed data as generalizations of existing univariate methods. In all derived methods, variability is interpreted as nuisance parameter. The use of the proposed methods in pharmaceutical development is demonstrated with a comparative analysis of dissolution profiles.

Attempts at identifying patients with an elevated risk of bleeding while on anticoagulation following acute venous thromboembolism (VTE) have largely been unsuccessful thus far. We sought to develop a clinical prediction score for bleeding during stable anticoagulation treatment after acute VTE.We performed a post hoc analysis of the pooled RE-COVER studies, two double-blind randomised “sister” trials evaluating dabigatran versus standard treatment in 5107 VTE patients.A score was derived from patients randomised to dabigatran using logistic regression analysis covering the complete follow-up period.
